The only Slipknot songs I like are that one they did for Resident Evil and Before I Forget, or whatever it was called. Actually, I thought their third album was taking them in the right direction, i.e. towards melody. They'll always be associated with daft ganties because they seemed to make it big on the back of an Ozzfest, though.

The most pathetic thing about Slipknot is that those fucking daft hoodies that wee ganties wear could be purchased from Marks and Spencer seconds shops a few years ago. It was quite soul-destroying because at the time (2002-ish) I was really into Testament. You'd get the occasional Slipknot fan that also 'liked' Testament - they're Mick Thompson's favourite band - and they'd try to associate with you.

There was this shitty record shop in Matlock that sold knock off nu-metal hoodies. The best day ever was when I saw some kid wearing a Slipknot hoodie of the 'Iowa' album, because on the back 'My Plague' had been misprinted to say 'My Plaque'.

Mr. Burns - I'm afraid it's customary to give you the plague...
Smithers - That's plaque, sir.

Great gag.

Well, after just reading it, my take on it is that the reviewer just contradicts himself. He says at the end it's a mess of an album but he only actually seems to dislike two tracks (Dead Memories and Snuff) because they're slow and ballady. My guess is he probably didn't like Vermilion off the last album either and if he'd been around at the time he probably would have slated Metallica for Fade to Black or Sanitarium.
The only other track he seems to have a dislike for is Sulfur because it sounds too nu-metal. Hardly surprising as, although they have very little in common with the types of band primarily connected to that scene, they were actually a part of it.
Sort of like a Slayer fan criticising them for sounding like Maiden and Priest on Show No Mercy.

Slipknot are a gang of gays.
I didn't mind a couple of tracks from their first major album. I heared they had other stuff out before that which was more technical and is supposed to be quite good, but I don't want to hear it. Corey Taylor is a prick and he's one of the worst song writers I've ever heared:

"I wipe it off on tile, the light is brighter this time
Everything is 3D blasphemy
My eyes are red and gold, the hair is standing straight up
This is not the way I pictured me".

See..... What a fucking tosser.

Also, why does it take 9 of them to do what a standard 5 piece band could do?
Why do they have a drummer and percussionist? Why do they have that spikey head guy on decks?
Why do they exist?

I used to like Slipknot when I was 15, which is why I think they are rubbish now. A bloody kids band, jumping around in stupid masks to hide themselves from the fact that their music is shit and immature. FUCK IT ALL!@!!!@!2111

Good lord, I just listened to a 90 second clip of Butcher's Hook and a clip of the 2nd track too, fucking hell they're awful. Horrible, horrible band, with a drummer far too amazing for the likes of them.

It's on getcloser.com, I got e-mailed it through hmv.com I think, you have to sign up though if you can be bothered, and it's not really worth it just for Slipknot, though it doesn't take long, so you might as well.

My three favourite bands are Slipknot, Mushroomhead and Mudvayne.
