I like the old stuff mainly from the 80's and the G-funk from the early 90's.

Yeah I’m very much into my underground hip hop, I was into hip hop before metal and these days I’m very much into both genres.

I’m happy to hear there are some Necro fans on here because he is one of my favourite artists. He’s now well known for combining metal and hip hop but originally he just made pure hip hop. His lyrical content has always been rather unique in the hip hop world and his most common themes are violence, drugs and pornography. His lyrics have always been subject to heavy criticism by hip hop fans and he has clearly been heavily influenced by 80’s Thrash & Death Metal. Sometimes he is compared to garbage like the Insane Clown Posse due to the topics in the lyrics but he clearly puts a lot more thought into his words than they do and is a very competent producer as well. His lyrical style isn’t for everyone and he often gets more respect as a producer than as a rapper. I would definitely consider him to be among my favourite producers ever in the history of hip hop.

My Necro recommendations are:

I Need Drugs Album ( His debut album, plenty of classic tracks on there, probably his best release in terms of lyrics in my opinion, his morbid sense of humour makes it very amusing at times)

Gory days (Solid release, better sound quality compared to I need drugs)

Pre fix for death (Has some great tracks on it but unfortunately has some filler on there as well, still well owrth checking out)

Sexorcist (fully porn based album, a lot of his fanbase didn’t like it but the production is very funky and old school sounding.)

Associated recommendations

Ill Bill – whats wrong with bill? (Entirely necro produced)

As mentioned above this is Necro’s brother, he has a much wider topic range than Necro.

Goretex – art of dying (entirely necro produced)

I love this record, really awesome production and very off the wall lyrics

Sabac red – sabacolypose a change gone come (entirely necro produced)

Politic based rap, some great songs, some not so great, still well worth hearing

Mr Hyde – Barn of the naked dead (entirely necro produced)

Musical equivalent of a horror movie.

Non Phixion – The future is now

Non phixion was Ill Bill, Goretex and Sabac before they split up, This album is considered an underground classic.

I also quite like immortal technique, his songs are always very political and I don’t agree with some of his views but its quality music with intelligent lyrics. Revolutionary volume 1 and 2 are very good albums to check out.

Other hip hop albums I really like:

Gza – liquid swords

Gang starr (pretty much any of their albums)

The roots – things fall apart

Jurassic 5 – quality control

The roots – do you want more?

Dr octagon – Dr. Octagonecologyst

Kool keith – sex style

Public enemy – it takes a nation of millions to hold us back

Jedi mind tricks – violent by design

Q unique – vengenge is mine (good call Destruction)

That’s all for now…I’ll probably think of a load more

just remembered de la soul, they have some classic stuff as well.

out of interest has anybody seen any decent live hip hop acts?

In general i prefer metal shows to hip hop shows but you do sometimes get really awesome hip hop gigs.

You liked Infinite that much? His third album was the best, the Marshall Mathers LP

Anyway, this thread is amusing and bemusing at the same time. So many people are saying "waaa metallers hate rap but i love it omg speshul" Yet every single person listens to at least some of it, and from my personal experience, the vast majority of metallers in general do. You guys assume too much.

Oh yeah, and stuff I listen to

Eminem
NWA
Xzibit
Biiiit of Snoop before he annoys the piss out of me
Eazy E
Ice Cube
Bit of Dre, but not such a big fan

Used to listen to other stuff, but eeh, I found myself trying to like it more than I actually did, that list is enough for me thx.
