Morbid Angel are definitely my favourite death metal band, especially after Thursday's gig. A close second place would probably go to Immolation!

Not that I mean to kick up shit but is the rest of Immolation's stuff as bad as Here In After? I'm assuming their first two albums may have been better...

Immolation have loads of great albums, and Ross Dolan is a great vocalist! Dawn of Possession, Failures For Gods, Close to a World Below and Unholy Cult are all crushing! Don't think I've heard Here in After though.

Death, Death, Death. Oh, and Death.

Obituary and Morbid Angel too? Sure, why not.

The Erosion of Sanity by Gorguts is one of the best death metal albums ever, some of the stuff on there is just insane.

Spheres by Pestilence is great aswell and of course Cancer's Death Shall Rise, I need to start listening to death metal again.

It sucks that Incubus had to change their name to Opprobrium. Damned alt-rock kids.

They were cool. Didn't they have a woman singer for a couple of albums. She was fucking brutal. She could do death metal vocals better than alot of guys!

Surprised to see GRAVE not mentioned on this thread yet, one of the true greats imo.
Aside from them I'd add Bolt Thrower, Obituary, Asphyx, Master, Massacre... good shout on The Karellian Istmus too!

Two new(ish) albums in this genre worth picking up are REPUGNANT's Epitome of Darkness and DEATHEVOKATION's Chalice of Ages. I'm not sure if anyone here has heard them but both of these albums are fucking outstanding, easily among the best albums released in 06 and 07.
I killed Reanimator.
