Metal but faster, i would probs agree with that.

I think vocals have a great deal to do with it, no room for death metal vocals nor is there room for overly harsh vocals i find. And finally guitar tone sadly makes a huge impact, really hi-teble/bass doesnt seem to work...

Not sure about that, there is plenty of room for diversity of vocals. Look at some of the new wave of 'harsher' thrash acts like Toxic Holocaust, Nocturnal etc. they are clearly playing thrash, despite the harsh vocals.

Yeah, i think of it like this.

The basic thrash brand can only get pushed so far before becoming stale. So mixing in some of the other genres is generally the only real way to stand out without having a unique vocalist/giant gimmick.
Gee.... I don't know about the rest of you guys, but lately the only things that truly motivate me are erections and bowel movements.

Thank the Police coming straight from the underground...

umm, every other 'alternative' kid you see, the ones who still listen to Slipknot and Marilyn Manson because those magazines are stilllllll pushing them in front of impressionable kids' faces.. but then they like Megadeth's new albums and Trivium and it gets confusing!!!

Thrash has never been truly defined as one particular sound, take Reign In Blood for example... then compare it with Doomsday for the Deciever.... both technically thrash, but so, so different. boundaries are non defined...

and about vocals... compare both those albums I mentioned, then the vocals in Sadus.... and Metallica... couldn't get much broader in a genre really!!!

The bands take certain sounds and influences from such a wide variety of metal with different sounds/vocals, and create their own sound in the image of the things they love about metal.

Metal but faster.

That's the one.

Good way of explaining Thrash, really: second-rate Heavy Metal riffs played faster.

If you had correctly written 'aboot' instead of 'about', he probably would've gotten it.

Thrash is what gives a Jedi his powers. It's an energy field created by all living things. It surrounds us, penetrates us, it binds the galaxy together.

Thrash = Fast drums mixed with guitars doing power chords and hammer ons and pull offs. PLayed by long haired guys in jeans, tshirts, leather jackets and high tops.

Seriously though, well I can't be bothered to write much, but I think the thing that has always drawn me to thrash is the energy and the whole attitude, thrash has a sense of humour but can be serious too.

Also... zombies. lol.
