Surely it's more than nostalgia if the games are actually enjoyable?

Not really, it's still a way of living in the past. In my experience, going back to a game (or anything really: Inspector Gadget for example) seldom lives up to the hype you've surround it with. I remember back in the days when emulators first came out the first thing I did was get myself set up with Streets of Rage II. Yeah, it was fun for a while but it I remember it being better back in 1992. It's especially true with games that pre-dated the Playstation seeing as you can complete them in a couple of hours.

It's not as if you don't get games today that are as good as ones put out 15 years ago...

No, but they are a lot rarer simply because we have pretty much seen it all before.
Gee.... I don't know about the rest of you guys, but lately the only things that truly motivate me are erections and bowel movements.

LIES!

Call of Duty IV is about as original as Muse but it's possibly the greatest thing ever created.

CO4 is pretty much every fps ever made, it is a fucking pallet swap imo.

A better example would be halo those games ARE real original.

Originality is for losers.

Jethro Tull seem original and they were fucking terrible.

History has taught us that things are better when they're just copies of things that are good.

You are a man of such double standards ian, ahaha.

The sky is blue by the way.

I think having a small element of originality keeps things fresh, if it is too radical people will just ignore it. It has happened to many a game.

I'm getting sick of peoples' lies around here like.

It's a filthy cauldron of deceit.

I'm not a big fan of 'originality'.
905 of the new thrash bands that have appeared over the last few years don't sound any different than the 80's stuff it's based on, which is why it's so damn cooool

Cool with a capital K
