Why the hell are the japanese so deserving?! All they do is watch fat fuckers in diapers push each other like women.
I think the reason is to try and persuade the japanese to buy their own CDs as it's cheaper for them to import them in? if there's extras on the jap versions they go "ooooh".
i dont know. It's something like that.
I used to make video games and we'd always have to do special Japanese levels, characters, cutscenes and all that bollox. As if it wasn't hard enough getting everything in to Kanji! We were always told it's because they buy so much shit out there... there is so much to choose from that you've got to try extra hard to get their ¥.
There are a lot of bands out there that only have a career in Japan and they make a lot of money... so it might be worth the extra effort.
Don't worry, HMV will import it in to the UK and sell it for £20. EvileOL - you should sell the Jap CD's at your gigs, i'd buy one.

It's pretty simple. A bunch of guys and a few unlucky girls get to sit in a shitty office bashing out code, level design and artwork until some cunt from a publisher tells you 'it's done now fuck off' and then you sleep for a few weeks and start again. Needless to say after 12 years of doing that I packed it in. Still... it made me nice and angry for the pit .

I spent most of my games career as a programmer at Argonaut Games (now defunct) where I worked on Aladdin (ps1), Carve (XBox) and Catwoman (PS2, XBox and NGC). Not the most illustrious of titles, no GTA's or anything like that but it was still cool. What you don't see though is that between those titles there were sometimes two or even three titles that never saw the light of day. It's like writing and recording an album for the record company to not publish it... and this happens to you over and over again! After a while it breaks your soul.
Still you're right, I've been lucky, it's an awesome thing to do. As much fun as making and running new metal army
