Me! I'll be avoiding you lot though, but then again I said that before Bloodstock as well, so....

Yea I will be there with the woman and friends, though I think we are doing some kind of pub crawl before the gig so I'l be a bit rough round the edges, as long as I'm concious to get close enough to sniff the groin of SIGH's sax player and see Carcass I guess.

We've decided not to go, got Opeth on Sunday in Manchester and the christmas markets outside the town hall. Went today as a food-scouting mission and it was epic.

Roast pig carcass beats scouse Carcass all day long.

I'll be thar. Just look for the drunk guy wearing an Onslaught shirt and stinking of petrol.

What a brilliant night. Words fail me.
almost...

ONSLAUGHT - Excellent set played brilliantly with a terrible sound. Somebody shoot the soundman.

SIGH - I lasted two songs before realising they were bollocks. Horrible sound too.
Somebody shoot the replacement soundman.

RAMESSES - Stood them for half a song before quickly fucking off.
Somebody shoot the band.

BENEDICTION - Finally! A great set, a great sound, a psychotic pit and absolutely nothing to moan about. Absolutely fucking brilliant.

MY DYING BRIDE - Generally not a fan of theirs but they put on a very good show and the new soundman earned himself a gold star with a crystal clear mix.

CARCASS - Ok, now I am speechless.

Indeed.
The thing that's puzzled me is that through the year all I've heard is that Carcass have been poor. People I know went to Wacken and came back saying they were shit, and they don't seem to have fared much better in people's eyes at other fesitvals either.
So how come they were utterly fucking brilliant at Damnation then?

Two reasons spring to mind:
1. They were only going through the motions, using each festival as a rehearsal until they returned to England.
2. People talk an awful lot of total bollocks.

Carcass at Wacken seemed pretty good to me.

My money is on 2. To be honest, its better to see bands in an enclosed venue than it is to watch them at a festival so that might have something to do with it.

Still, Ken Owen had some bloody balls getting onstage to do that drum fill.

Pretty good night, too many people there for my liking, was a cunt trying to get anywhere near the stages apart from Cathedral but then I could only see two of their songs before heading for Carcass.
