If you only read one post and take note, it's TZ's.
However, If you find a MD of a label that will pay for your album in advance while you do no tours, have no album ready, or are willing to give up on parts of your personal life or ambitions for the future outside the band but want to be successful nonetheless.......
Could you please forward me their E-mail address? Seems like we're in the same boat.

Just save up loads of money if you can and record with Russell with your own funds, why not. The Saltergate EP sounded brilliant, no point coming out with an album that sounds worse. I can't imagine a record label's going to come along and give you loads of money for just having good songs alone, and even if they do you'll just be in loads of debt. Save up some dosh, make an amazing album and have a lovely time. I imagine it'd take ages to save up the kind of money I'm guessing it would cost to record with Russ, but obviously it'll be worth it. And if you haven't even written half the album yet, then, well, there's no rush!

Re: Heretic bigged up by Earache?
Tsk, these musicians and their egos...
Okay Lyall and Martin, this is just how I see it: when I first found out about UK Thrash Heretic were one of the up and coming bands and now two years later Heretic are still one of the up and coming bands, yes the same can be said for others apart from yourselves but they haven't talked themselves up in the same way you have, as that awful American phrase goes "it's time to shit or get off the pot." I'm not trying to get at you, far from it, I'm sure you'll agree that I've helped you in every way I can and I really do care about Heretic (ah bless), what I'm trying to say is you've got the potential to do a lot better than you are at present, grab the chance whilst it is here, a year down the line might be too late.
Your "couldn't give a fuck" and "Dig is a wanker" attitude was amusing at the start but perhaps this is coming back to bite you? Why would a label want to sign a band who sound really good but are potentially going to be hard work on the personal side? I've met you a few times and I think you are decent honest lads, perhaps it is time for this real personality to shine through.
The reason I'm posting this is that I've had a few comments given to me of late about how Heretic could and should be putting out albums with label backing, but they need to sort out their attitude and up the work rate. In fact I was asked to "have a word", which is what I'm doing.
The bottom line is you either want this or you're playing at it, and I really hope you want it!
There are many reasons why two years down the line we still aren't putting albums out, but I can tell you none of them are about 'wanting it' any less than you can imagine. or any less than anyone else. We have wanted it for a great many years and done nothing but work towards it. Heretic played its first gig in 2003.
But the band as it is now, in terms of being ready to put out albums as a professional 'hard-working' outfit has only been going for only just over a year. Lee joined the band on Drums in May 2007 and we then went through two bassists with questionable commitment between then and recording with Russ in late October. We were not anywhere near ready before last summer, despite our ability to write good songs and no amount of touring etc would have put that right. We've been through endless line up changes, and a massive change in influence and direction only 14 or so months ago and the material we are now looking at being worthy of a proper debut has only been going since then. It seems to me like everything has happened in an un-rushed but certainly not lazy timeline. And like I said we've had other distractions etc etc... But i do firmly believe it is only in the last year we have shown we can be ready to put albums out and do the real work necessary to realise our potential.
On your second point our couldnt give a fuck attitude is just who we are. Its like any relationship, we WANT it- but we dont NEED it. We've only ever wanted recognition based on our material and live performances- the sound of the band as a whole, not because we're nice and easy to get along with- you've met us and we are nice and easy to get along with, but at the same time we are honest like u said, and will always remain so, but honesty is probably the best thing in any working relationship. If any label bothered to go the length and speak to us then theyd know that too. But theyd also know we do have the work rate to put in and the right attitude and would be very co-operative- ofcourse we would- we are all smart enough to know deliberately being difficult with our support wouldnt get us anywhere.
Now that we sound what we would feel as 'accomplished' like and have new material coming through into the set we are going to be playing as much as we can. We are discussing tours which could take us to Europe but theyre still only in the talking stages. We've discussed them many times and just havent had the finance to do it.

HAHA ironic that, cuz i was chatting on the phone just this morning to someone in a band (not heretic) who was saying just how full of idiots the terrorizer forum is, and how he dislikes it, then i get home and see this thread. What a coincidence!!!!
