The film would mainly follow the fate of the main character, who was innocent all along. He has to try to make it home while avoiding all the war going on, and also avoiding several of the total maniac prisoners who have been let loose and always hated him and want him dead.
And maybe a cool twist would be that he finally fights and sneaks his way home (dispaching most of his convict enemies), to find that he WAS actually guilty - he was just psychotically deluded the whole time and could not comprehend or remember his guilt. When he finally realises, he heads back out to the warzone to meet whatever fate awaits him there. And it ends.
