Yeah, but you get to do the same thing I did with all the new bands out there in England/Ireland nowadays. No chance of that in Chicago for me - all I get is November's Doom and Usurper. :)

Usurper are cool but it is really cool seeing all the UK thrash bands at the moment, are you planning on coming back to the UK ever?

I used to come back once or twice a year, but now we have a 3-year-old daughter the plane ride's not as much fun. :)
Hopefully some time this year.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Yeah, I saw Xentrix a couple of times as Sweet Vengeance in Preston and Leyland.

I was also at that Faith No More gig at the International II. The main thing I remember from that gig (for some stupid reason) was Mike Bordin spitting up on to the ceiling multiple times during the gig (as you remember, it was very low over the stage) and catching it in his mouth when it dripped back down again while still playing drums. One of the weirdest things I've ever seen. :)
Saw a lot of that ceiling get kicked down when Exodus played there by people crowd surfing. :)

Another I forgot - Primus on their first European tour (for "Suck On This") at Manchester University in probably late '88 or early '89.

Those gigs look really good, i went to a few good ones in the early nineties. I wont mention them here, cause this thread is for the 80s.

I met a guy the other week at the pub who has seen Kiss 25 times. TWENTY FIVE!

Now that is worthy of ordination the very highest echelons of human existence.

:D

The main '80s gigs I wish I had had the chance to be at were the US Festival (Metal day) and that gig in Moscow with Skid Row unt Ozzy.

I would sooner pull my fingernails out with pliers than see KISS 25 times. They were wank at donnington and their music is utter toss!!!! Gene did invent corpsepaint though!! Well actually it was Arthur Brown, but that would be wasted here (but i bet its going to get a few google searches now hahahahaha).

terrorizer wrote:A thread for the older thrashers, so who did you see back in the 80s? I didn't make as many as I'd have wanted but saw some classic tours;

Metallica Birmingham 86 (with Cliff), Donington 87 and Birmingham 88.

Anthrax Birmingham, Bristol & Donington 87

Testament Birmingham & Bristol 87

Slayer Nottingham 87 (right down the front)

Xmas On Earth Festival Leeds 87 (Megadeth, Kreator, Nuclear Assault, Cro Mags, Virus... can't think of the rest of the bill) This was my one and only attempt at bootlegging a show, the result was dreadful.

Onslaught Burton upon Trent 86

Napalm Death, Heresy & Doom Coventry 88

Iron Maiden 87

Donington 87 & 88

& some I can't remember...

Unfortunately I was majorly skint whilst at University so didn't see any bands after 88.
