Wow mate, that song's fucking awesome! Kick arse fucking solo too.
I've been playing for 6 years now, as a rhythm guitarist. I've never botherd learning to play lead because I'm too lazy, but now that I've quit my job and have shitload of time on my hands I wanna start putting more into my playing. Where the fuck do I even start learning to shred like that? I taught myself so I don't know ANYTHING about reading music/scales or anything technical at all!
On a side note, I've just written a new track myself called R.F.M. It's a death metal song, so check it out on my MySpace page and tell me what you duders think? Tis heavy as fook but lacks solo's and I've not recorded lyrics for it yet...

There are loads of guide sort of things on the net which give you lots of excercises etc... for loads of different techniques like:
http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/lessons/soloing/ - try having a look in the lessons section which has some good stuff on there.
I found though the best thing for developing lead skill is to learn some simple scales (which can extremely boring but if you just sit down in one session and learn like 3 different scale positions or something you can bluff quite well ) and then pick a solo you think is within your range and trying to learn it note to note maybe with the help of a song slow downer thingie...
hope that helped in some sort of way...
