Maybe saying MOST the covers are better is a bit strong but a lot of them equal the originals. Nazi Punks and Lowlife are better by Napalm, I think. Also, Maggots in your Coffin and Blind Justice are at least equal. And War's No Fairytale- the original has its own class but it's nice to hear it done slicker and sharper. Regardless, Napalm do great covers in my opinion

There's an unseen fortune under their belts
Are golden temples a symbol of God's way
This horde of wealth is a sickening display"

Damn, I'd really like to hear Napalm Death's "Riot Of Violence" cover...

Best cover song to my mind is Space Truckin' by Overkill. Simply awesome.

The first two Led Zeppelin albums are basically just two incredible cover albums. They completely transformed simple blues songs (good as they were) into hard rock masterpieces.

Off the top of my head the Nuclear Assault cover of "ballroom blitz" is hilarious

Iced Earth do some pretty cool covers, like Highway to Hell, Number of the Beast and Hallowed Be Thy Name

Vader's covers of Slayer's Raining Blood and Morbid Angel's Immortal Rites kick ass, as does Krisiun's cover of Venom's In League In Satan! :rockdevil:

It is a bit sad that the only descent Flotsam & Jetsam stuff since the debut LP have been covers like "damage inc." and the excellent cover of LARDs "forkboy". For a band who made such an impact when they started, i doubt any other thrash band has ever failed to fill their potential as much!!!! In fact, back when ian and I were writing our zine, i tried to get an interview with F&J, and i was going to ask just one question, that being "How come you havent managed to write a single good song since Jason left????" Unfortunately the interview never came off and i was crestfallen!!!

I agree, but when it's done well it kicks ass!

In my opinion, the first CD of Metallica's "Garage Inc." kicks ass, one of the best records to drive to, particularly "It's Electric". Half of the songs on there are better than the originals. Not very metal, but Jeff Buckley's "Hallelujah" (sp?) and Steve Vai's "Amazing Grace" are both amazing songs. Also, anything by Richard Cheese, he covers everyone from Slayer to Kelis and it's always good :D Can't think of many great covers by metal bands though.
I'm going to
Tear your fuckin' eyes out,
Rip your fuckin' flesh off,
Beat you 'till you're just a fucking lifeless carcass,
Fuck you and your progress,
Watch me fucking regress,
You were made to take the fall,
Now you're nothing!!

Bugger the cover versions, listen to the originals, especially anything Metallica covered from the NWOBHM.

Hmm, I prefer the other version;

Postman Pat, Postman Pat,
Postman Pat & his black and white cat,
Lying in his bed,
Pissed out of his head,
Pat has gone and lost his job again.
