Indeed, it appears the days of general chat being the busiest place are long gone.. which is kind of... productive.. but kind of.. sad.. as well. Seems the playground has sort of been burnt down. :(

People tend to hear a lot of overblown rumors about Earache and instantly give them a negative rap. The fact is people love hearing bad news, whether it be true or false, and it spreads like fire. Good news is taken for granted and/or ignored, and it doesn't spread, or people don't believe it, depending what 'bad news' they've heard.

Earache are an excellent label, and we have a great relationship with them. They've put nothing but time and effort into us, and we've done the same back for them, which makes me wonder if failing to do this would result in 'bad blood' and negative chinese whispers. They aren't guys in suits. We get on with every single one of them as mates, if you will. Every single label in the world is out to make money, like it or not, and the state the music business is in at the moment (downloading etc) makes profit/survival predominantly focused on.

The music biz (primarily for Metal/Alternative/Extreme music) has the potential to be crushed if things don't change, and it's good that labels (including Earache) are doing everything they can to keep it alive. All that's needed now is for fans to support the labels and the bands.

I hope people dont put a lot of stock in rumors about any label. At the end of the day labels exist to make money. Even if a label is started to support a scene that the founders love as soon as you start a company you need to make money.... that's the bottom line.

One of the good things I can say about earache is that they seem to see the current upheaval in their business model as a opportunity and not crying to their lawyers about downloading. Their twitter feed is genuine, funny and does give fans a glimpse of the people in/behind bands and I think fans appreciate that. Other labels just pump out dry press releases which are of no interest to even the fans of bands. They are trying to spice up the bands offering with special coloured lp's and box sets. This is all good shit that doesn't really make them much more money given the effort but does enthuse fans and generate press.

Don't know what Harris is on about, and we didn't ban anyone. The trolls just left of their own accord, which worked out nicely.

They seemed pretty human to me. They left cos of the changes. And because they left general chat is shat. It used to be so active. It isnt now. Scene seems to be top, this place has gone more quiet though.

Yes, general chat was enjoyable. Some people got silly right before they left, but.. it's a shame general chat is the same as any other forum now, it's lost it's retarded flavour, it's too NORMAL!
