Re: Capital Punishment dvd feat:Damnas,River Freshney and Sigil
OK,the title came to me in the early hours the other night during a restless attempt to get to sleep.
anyway if you havent guessed already its a classic Rick pun(but a good one for a change).
what with the bands being from london aka the "capital" and having brutal, agressive heavy sound styles(the punishment bit)
i thought this captures the essence perfectly.
also the main title screens' background is a black and white photo of london(near the thames bridge)after ww2 all blown up and severely damaged.
london(capital) was destroyed(punishment)so to speak,so it all fits together perfectly.
also capital punishment can mean death sentence
anyway, the discs come in a variety of colors(due to the stickyback paper selection packs i got off ebay).
also earlier on at the stationers i got my dvd sleeve design photocopied.(100 copies/50 A3 sheets)
it is in black and white(10p per sheet)as color copies are £1 each(£50!!!!!!!!!!!)
i designed the prototype sleeve(blue peter style)in black and white to begin with(with a black piece of card and white pencil)so that the logos, pics and lettering all stood out when it came to getting them copied.(this way none of the lettering/images would come out too dark or faded)
it still looks the nuts though(considering its a D.I.Y style effort)and has the equally sized bands logoson the front(which i photocopied from the e.p covers/printed off from the bands myspace pics at the video shop internet)
and the back cover has band pics(inc.members names/instruments)and a small blurb/introduction.
i just gotta burn 10 more dvdrs, then get doing some serious cutting out and stick the disc labels/insert the dvd sleeves, over the weekend.
its all on schedule(ill be done by sunday eve)ready for the wednesday release.
ill put up a pic of the finished product on sunday eve.
cheers
EDIT:there will be 80-83 copies initially.reason being that 14 discs failed to burn correctly(due to them being dvd rs and not rws i cant re attempt the burn)
also 3 came out with the chapter menu all blurred/fucked up so in total i got 17 duds.
anyway i went ahead and printed 100 labels/sleeves so that i can have some spare/handy for in future.and ill keep the remaining dvd cases.

Re: Capital Punishment dvd feat:Damnas,River Freshney and Sigil
at last!all done(after 4 hours of cutting )
here are the final designs for the disc/box art.
scroll down for full pic(bar on the right)
scroll down for full pic(bar on the right)
(camera flash was on,which explains the bright glow on the above pic)
discs colors will be supplied at random
i could have bought a cd stamper/paper cutting guillotine etc for £20-£30 but ive spent enough already and tried to budget since its a freebie.
i know its kinda DIY/blue peter ish but there we are(it is a freebie after all)
i think it turned out pretty good(better than i had planned).
it still took shitloads of time/effort but was worth it in the end.
also with not having a printer,i did what i could with the resources i had(ie:stationers down the road )
besides, portable printer ink costs too much and runs out pretty fast.
anyway,im done explaining,im sure its gonna be wickla either way.

Killer job, a lot of hard work has clearly gone into them and they have a cool home-made look (in a good way!)... wonder which colour I will get

haha sod that!!!
nah i blue petered a prototype with white pencil, pritstick, scissors, black card and some cut outs of photocopied band pics(which i photod off their myspaces in b+w mode, developed at boots, then photocopied/scaled down to be of equal size at stationers)
the logos were photocopied from band e.ps/stickers to equal size.
all with permission of course
i got 100 copies on a deal(since i kept going there back and forth,so the staff helped me out/discounted here and there)
