Tony Blair
what are your thoughts on his passing and are you glad he was replaced by Brown? Not for any heavy politics, just some reflection.

I don't think he was that bad to be fair, not an amazing leader but we could have definatly done much worse *Looks over the pond*
Gee.... I don't know about the rest of you guys, but lately the only things that truly motivate me are erections and bowel movements.

I'll never understand how that stupid fucker got voted for TWICE! That must have been some kind of setup. There's no way everyone in America can be that STUPID to vote him twice.

*not a George Bush thread*
I think it's pretty easy to demonize him for the big war issue, but I have quite a grudging respect for him as a very shrewd and capable politician. I tend to take pretty cynical views of all politics (too much Yes Minister!), so I'm not one to get upset if so and so isn't a saint. But I think to run the country for a decade takes some doing, and he's been pretty competent.

It's the clips of him messing up his speeches that make me wonder how he got his position. He can't speak 1 sentence without making himself look like a complete bellend.

aye, i think he did well. A good leader. Many a man would have crumbled under the massive public protest over the war, but he stuck to what he belived was right at the time

Yeah i agree with most of that, and i was simply using bush as a comparison as to how bad it could have been.

I don't think Blair has been too bad. He did majorly screw up with the war, but apart from that, I think he's been ok. Not sure why he's been appointed middle east envoy for the UN - most of them hate him over there.
Gordon Brown? His cabinet looks ok. He's got some anti war politicians in there also and got rid of some incompetents - I'd vote for him probably. Time shall tell.

I personally was not oposed to the war (as the ferengi say war is both bad and good for buisness, this is also true for a country), ok i was against being lied to but i imagine it is something that happens on a daily basis, the only difference is that they got caught this time.

I quite liked Tony Blair and think he gets WAY too much stick for a war that any Prime Minister would have helped initiate regardless of party. The NHS has never failed me and I have needed it more than most over the past decade and he has given Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales devolved administrations.
As for the War in Iraq: do you all not get seriously pissed off with hyper-liberal anti-war protesters? I can't stand people who protest against the decisions of government yet do nothing to propose a feasible alternative.

Yeah, what a bunch of cunts. They seriously get on my nerves, the ones that protest animal testing wind me up the worst. Shall we test it on you then you smuck?

I happened to be walking around Westminster on one of the big anti-war march days, and it was such a revolting sight. It was basically like a huge gathering of degenerates and hippy social drop outs, thinking they're gaudy carnival antics and pathetic percussion offerings would change anything.
There was even some bitch waving placards about how 7/7 was a government conspiracy! I wanted to behead her.

I've actually tried to type a post about what I really think about those kind of people three times now. I keep having to start again because I keep thinking of something else that really bugs me about them.
I'm a politics student and there is nothing worse than having one of them in your tutorials. I actually had a nemesis last year. It was quite funny because everyone else in the class just sat and watched whilst me and him shouted at each other. He always went on about how the War in Iraq was 'all about oil' and that it wasn't America's place to act as the 'World's Policeman' in International Relations. I got the last laugh though because I got a way better mark than he did.

Far too greasy but better than any Tory.
