Listen to orchid and morningrise man, those are opeths best two albums! So atmospheric, with awesome guitarwork throughout.
I do, most days of my life. I have all the albums, I just thought I'd recommend those albums for someone who hasn't listened to Opeth before, as I found the first two harder to get into. Although Morningrise is probably my least favourite album, even though it's still amazing. Orchid is fucking unbelievable though, yes indeed. My favourites are still Ghost Reveries and Blackwater Park though.

I find that Pink Floyd can be quite underrated among the musical elite, as they are generally seen as more of a 'pop rock' band, compared to other prog bands like King Crimson and Tull and such. But really they are also one of the best things since sliced bread. I listened to Animals again the other day, and it's really really bloody good. Although I'm not too keen on Pigs, Dogs is amazing and Sheep rocks my bloody socks off. And of course there are many other amazing Pink Floyd things but I can't be bothered to type anything.

Oh, you mentioned '10, 000 Days' three times on the thread, didn’t you? That’s nice. I always liked Tool, but after their last album I fully realized how amazing they are. I hardly remember a song that moved me so much like ’10, 000 Days. (Wings Part II)’. Sad, beautiful and very personal, isn’t it? I hope you love it too, this song really deserves to be loved, Maynard James must had hard time writing it...
I’m a big fan of Dream Theater. They really weren’t easy to cope with, they bored me to death for about a year, since I felt in love with them, but now they’re definitely my favourite band. It sad so many people here don’t like them. I never thought DT are gay, they’re nice. I think 'Scenes From a Memory' are incredible, as well as 'Train of Thought', 'Images and Words', 'Awake' and 'Change of Seasons'.
I would add Symphony X and Queensryche, but probably somebody mentioned them already.

I just find that DT sound like when they are playing they are just thinking about how good they are than actually trying to write something that's got emotional depth to it. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's what I feel when I listen to them. It was wrong of me to call them 'gay', I just find them too, er... poncey (for want of a better word!), for my liking!
And yes indeed to Tool, I definitely do love 10,000 Days! Seeing that song live was incredible too, absolutely amazing, an unbelievable experience indeed! One of my favourite bands ever, really bloody superb.

I don't feel like reading this whole thread so...
Listen to Anekdoten, Wobbler, and Änglagård. They are all fucking brilliant progressive rock; they are newer bands taking a more modern approach to King Crimson.
also, Black Widow - Sacrifice is fucking godly.

Re: Prog Rock
I'm going to have to give this thread a proper read at some point as I've just started listening to prog. I know that some excellent bands have been mentioned though! Krautrock is somewhere I'd like to investigate further though as there are some really cool bands. However at this point in time I have no Krautrock but here's a handful of discoveries if you feel like looking them up:
Amon Duul II: If I remember correctly a really very heavy and very doomy. There are a few videos on Youtube anyway.
Necronomicon: Original copies of the original and even bootleg pressings of this album seel for ridiculous amounts of money these days, however you might be able to download it, not sure. Would be nice if it had a proper reissue though.
The Nazgul: Another band I'm desperate to hear as well as being another stupidly expensive group to buy records of. However apparently its very creepy Goblin-esque stuff apparently, but only having heard the name and not the band I cannot say.
Popul Vuh: I've heard a little bit of their stuff and I remember it being pretty good. Named after the Mayan book of the dead apparently.
Anyway for you who want to look up these bands in a little more detail: http://www.progarchives.com/ Hopefully its not been mentioned but as I said I haven't looked through the entire thread as of yet, so I hope its of interest.
