How many from this list piss you off? I'm sure I say some of them, but it is indeed a hateful collection. Probably one of the worst from there is "not being funny, but..." WAAAA that's awful.

Re: Cliche Phrases
Clichéd phrases don't annoy me half as much as clichéd sentiments. There are certain ones that are unavoidable, like when someone tells you they've suffered a bereavement:
- If there's anything I can do for you, let me know.
- I'm sorry to hear that...
Etcetera.
It's not so much those phrases that bug me but the fact that people generally appear to be completely insincere when they use them because they are so overused in the first place.
OOOO!
What about 'I couldn't care less' ? That's particularly shite, especially when Yanks fuck it up by saying 'I could care less'.
Tits.

Re: Cliche Phrases
Most hated cliched phrase at my work has to be when the managers say they are going for a "catch up". Blatantly obvious they are away for a skive otherwise it would be called going for a "meeting".
I use "basically" far too much. It does my head in.

Re: Cliche Phrases
'We'll have to go for a pint sometime... '
I've had that one since coming back from Glasgow and meeting people I went to school with. I hate it. It's as if people can't actually tell when I don't like them, despite having not seen them for five years.

Re: Cliche Phrases
10. The phrase I hate is "the reason being". Particularly when used by people who are trying to sound educated. They invariably show off their lack of education with the next phrase.
Alex Knob, UK
... the reason being, you're a knob mate.
Yeah i hate alot of these although i know i also say them alot too... fuck.
To be honest, yuuuk! To be fair, eeeeeeeeeeeeeew! i hate it when my mouth betrays me and lets these ones out.
Basically and Actually are fucking awful, again... i am a number one culprit.
fuck you james, i hate myself.

Literally.
We get told of for using things like "set to..." and "statistics revealed.." in journalism. My tutor is also adamant that we shouldn't use cliches for sport bulletins, which is complete wank.. I mean come on.. if you don't understand sport.. you don't listen to the sport. God.

Re: Cliche Phrases
im guilty of using "total/absolute nightmare"
"yeah,go for it"
"no worries"
the cooler saying i like to use are "nice one"
"bruap"
"aww/ahhh man"
i cant help saying the odd ali G style "innit" now and again which used to annoy me but seems to have replaced my more geezery "aint it".
also "aaaaiiiight" i use at at work/home and when out and about.even in texts.
i use these with a hint of sarcasm as more of a dig towards anyone who thinks that they are actually cool/hard/street for saying them for example someone like tim westwood.
also "safe" is a comical one but i think the odd few london based people use it seriously/more genuinly, whereas i find it slightly amusing.
