Our original lead guitarist had a Shine 5-string bass, it was pretty nice actually.. quite fun to play. It was used when recording our EP :)

Shine make some good stuff in their higher ranges, but you could just add another £100 on top and get something really nice instead.

I've got one of them. Their years old. Sound pretty good, but you need to add more gain to it along with a noise gate. I learned to play on one of those cunts.

it sounds good has this early thrash sound, palm mutes are really sharp so picking patterns sound really good. Im quite enjoying it, still to test it on a bigger amp cuz apparently the pedal is quite noisy but i havent noticed it on my 30 watt vox. As the dude that everyone hates said a bit more gain would help to hide my shit playing otherwise its good.

I never used a noise gate but i heard that that thing messes with ur guitar sound ie: compresses it so you might get some cool sound or some plain sounding shit, any advice on this?

I never had a noise gate when I used it. I was young and skint. I used to just put up with the feedback. I use a POD now with one built in. That Thrash metal pedal is good but I recon it's too much hassle now with technology and all.
