I loved the practical aspects of having one, which I did for about a year, but most others hated it as much as my long hair. You should just be like William Shatner and have proper hair.

I didn't have to change it. I went from long hair, to short, to skinhead, to short and back to long again. I change my hair every six months or so just for the sake of it to be honest. Public pressure wasn't so much a determining factor as me realising that skinheads and long hair are for people with anger-management issues. That and I didn't want to have long hair in my graduation photo because it's the one photo that my descendants will definitely see. Whilst I'm fairly indifferent to what most people think of me, I don't want my children to think I was a fucking cunt: something they most certainly would if they saw me with long hair.
