I've never heard of, let alone listened to Level 42 so you won't get an opinion on that from me. But this whole growing out of long hair thing is getting tiresome, it's a hairstyle for God's Sake. To say it's nothing but a phase to grow out of implies that anyone who once had long hair but now doesn't is matured beyond someone who still has it is a very tunneled vision. Much like this whole 'growing out of metal' thing. I'm 21, I have a degree and a high IQ, not to mention working a decent real world job in-between going in to teaching. But I still listen to probably 90% metal, and i'm not being unrealistic in saying that i'm more mature than a good number of people that have 'grown out of metal'

Other than that, I couldn't care less, just thought i'd add a bit of non-generalised perspective.

You need to listen to Level 42. They're bass-tastic and have really memorable songs. Brilliant driving music too.

I have nicer hair than you. Having had a skin-head, short back and sides, and long hair, I can safely say that the short back and sides is the best. It takes the longest out of the three to make look good, but my family friends have universally said that I look the best with it. You may say that you don't care what people think of you hair, but you'd be lying.

Are you going into/are you in teacher training proper?

But that's subjective, short hair may well look a lot better on you than long, but I really look awful with it, always did.

Nah, you will look better with short hair; you probably just need to use decent fibre putty/gel/moulding clay/sculpting wax/what have you.

I had had teacher training lined up. I didn't apply for it in December there because I think I owe it to myself to search for jobs before committing to teaching. In a way, teaching would be the ideal job for me. I probably have an overly romanticised view of it because I had a few good teachers who basically changed the way I thought about things. What I'm forgetting is that the vast majority of children are illiterate fuck-wits that want to stab you for trying to improve their geography, grammar and syntax.

Still, the pay isn't to be scoffed at and, in Scotland, there's a generous Golden Hello to be had if you're willing to work anywhere in Scotland. Whilst I don't think I'd mind working on a God-forsaken island in the Outer Hebrides that much, there's always the threat of getting posted to the shittiest part of Glasgow.

Not a risk worth taking methinks.

Aye, and in Scotland you start on £19, 000 and get £1, 000 a year more until you reach £31, 000. It's not megabucks, but it's not exactly the most difficult job going.

I would suggest a UK Thrash Teachers' Association (UKTTA) but STD_Caps is a ring.

That 19-31k pay structure is only if you stay on the teaching side, i plan on ditching that asap and getting into admin. Less kids, more money.

That being said my mate managed to get 24k on his first placement so i guess it is debatable.

Aye, and I don't care what Mr C says, there's about 11 riffs in Isle of Dogs and I wrote 8 (they took 'em from a few different songs I had, and if you think Isle of Dogs is a shit title, it was originally called MDK..so...every cloud), hence him occasionally reffering to me now as "8 Riffs Rogers". He'll deny it though coz that's what he does best. Right, crywank over.
