Yeah, Sonic 2 is definitely up there with the best of them. You can't beat a bit of Chemical Plant Zone, and Aquatic Ruins also. Sonic 3 has some fucking amazing music too, particularly the Hydrocity and Ice Cap Zone, and also the Lava Reef Zone from Sonic & Knuckles.

And let's not forget an underrated masterpiece, and probably the best boss music of all time, which has an amazing bit that wouldn't be out of place in an Iron Maiden song...

Writing old video game music must have been one of the best jobs in the world!

Check out Project Chaos:

It features remixes of Sonic 3 & Knuckles music, including metal covers of the final boss (Malicious Fingers) and the Robotnik theme (Scrambled Eggman)

Vice City got me into Megadeth. This is Lazlo and you're listening to V-Rock.

Interesting mini-documentary about how Michael Jackson was allegedly brought in to write music for Sonic 3:

Yeah, I've seen that video before, and I remember years and years ago, I noticed that the end credits music in Sonic 3 (which has always been one of my favourite bits of Sonic music EVER) sounded like Stranger In Moscow! But I think this is all just coincidence. The chord progressions are obvious poppy feel-good lovely joys that someone who knows how to write good pop music (eg. Michael Jackson and the people who wrote the Sonic music) would know how to use effectively. It's like saying Dragonforce originally contracted Mozart to write their album, but unfortunately he was dead.

Oh and the comparison between the Ice Cap Zone and Who Is It (two unbelievably amazing pieces of music!!) is so bloody ridiculous! Bloody idiots. That's like saying every Blink 182 song sounds like I'd Do Anything For Love by Meat Loaf speeded up and concluding that OH MY GOD, MEAT LOAF WROTE BLINK 182 SONGS!!!1 Fucking retards.

Actually, the funny thing is, when I was but a small boy, my favourite musics were definitely Michael Jackson and all the Sonic music, up to (and including) Sonic & Knuckles.
