Yay for old school death metal. It's pretty much all I listen to along with old thrash... and Motorhead.
Death ruled. Early Cannibal Corpse in the Barnes era. Deicide with their fucking amazing riffs. Morgoth as Dan mentioned. Obituary, early Entombed, Dismember were pretty cool, Autopsy, Abcess, Brutal Truth (grind/death/bleh), Benediction, Possessed, the mighty Morbid Angel... etc

Yeah old school death meal is fucking great. It's a shame that all of todays so called 'death metal' is just a competition of who can play the fastest blast beats for the duration of a song. Shit. That's what it is... Fucking shit.

Dismember sound no different to what they did 17 years ago, not that that's a bad thing

AH! HA!

You're so getting banned!

Anyway, I was trying to remember my old top-ten of classic Death Metal. Retribution by Malevolent Creation and Excursion Demise by Invocator were both up there with From Beyond by Massacre. The only Death Metal band I ever really listen to these days is Death and, even then, only really Human and Symbolic.

I've always prefered the old European DM bands to the American ones, Convulse, Carbonized, Eternal Darkness, Abhoth, Carnage, Macrodex, Wombbath. All worth a listen or two.

I'd say that Napalm were more of a grindcore band than DM.

My faves have gotta be Morbid Angel, Obituary, Cannibal Corpse, Autopsy, Macabre, Massacre, Death, Dismember, Hypocrisy, Carcass and Bolt Thrower.

Nice.

Napalm Deaths Harmony Corruption sounds very DM to me. Love that one. Sepultura sort of fit into here with Schizophrenia.

Morbid Visions maybe, but Schizo is totally thrash.

Oldschool DM albums I love:
Eaten Back to Life
Leprosy
Cause of Death
Left Hand Path
Death Shall Rise

Oh i know. I mean it has its death metal moments in it. Its my favourite Sep LP also. Ive got the one from Shark records. Wouldnt mind one from Cogumelo though because arent the Shark record ones basically bootlegs of the album?

i think they were genuine, as shark records was a legit label from germany. mind you, wild rags was a legit label also but they ripped off loads of bands.

Well i think they signed to them but didnt get paid enough i read. Theres a Sepultura book that says they were bootlegs from a friend of the band so itll be one sided. So ill sticik with the first one because they didnt just release Schizophrenia with them. Cool label anyway.
