Woo! Didn't even know this thread was up. Yeah, got home safe and rinsed off another case of fosters for the way home while playing pro Evo (5?) We fucking love that bus and loved the weekend, we are embarking on the return favour ASAP. Nice one lads for having us down.

Yes, I in particular had a lovely time, and really enjoyed the setup etc. It seems the fine art of putting gigs on has been forgotten by many promoters these days, who don't give a fuck who they book and what the venue is like as long as you agree to sell x tickets, much to the detriment of the live audience. It's no wonder people are apathetic about live music. However, Seregon put them all to shame with a very well organized and well attended gig. Let's face it, it doesn't cost the earth to make a few butties and get some beers in, and this little touch made me feel all the more welcome and all the more like rocking. So well done to Seregon, thanks for having us and see you soon up our end (ooer)!!

Yuh, we've got a lot of mails saying 'sell 20 tickets and you can play, sell 19 and you won't see a penny' they can all go fuck the mop.
V-man paid a band in M&S vouchers once. He also let the lads from Strain leave to get food, moaned that they were late coming back then charged them to get in the venue to collect their gear.

The problem is, there are too many eager shit bands who will go for these scams just to be heard, but unfortunately due to the fact that they have to sell their own tickets only their friends turn up to cheer them on. This in turn makes them think they are good, whereas in fact they are usually wank. HOD are a clear example of this.

Re: Seregon + Hospital of Death : 02/05/09
I remember in a previous band of mine we played a gig at The Garage in Highbury, London with some other local bands - we took a load of fans in a minibus to the gig... and they were more or less the ONLY people we played to!
I think when bands are so young and naive they waste so much effort in the wrong directions. Like another time we sent off £200 to this sham record label who said they'd put a track on a compilation CD, give us radio airtime, etc. Didn't see a single speck of interest in return (and it wasn't Resilience Records hahaha).

Oh come on James, I linked you on our MySpace! Anyway, that £200 helped me to get to Tenerife last summer, surely that is a good thing?

We doubled that figure and went on a Terrorizer CD years back to double the indifference! Pretty much killed the band off as it was all the money we ever had. I don't see the 'local aspiring label' compilation offers anymore with internet streaming being so dominant but I bet some still try.
We've played with many bands who've turned up with a bus full of fans (mates from college/uni) who swear blind they are the next big thing and strut around the stage (late, with their 50 watt combos while asking to borrow half our stuff). First band on, then do encores!
If you pan your eyes around the room during the gig, 50% are just there for the fear of missing out on the campus gossip the next day. Chances are 90% that they fuck off after the band's played too. It's just gets boring but'll never stop I s'pose.

We did the Fear Candy thing to and it has helped us no end, once we got on that and then had a live review and cd review in Terrorizer, other magazines picked up on it and soon enough we were in all the major mags etc.
It can help, luck of the draw I guess? Lord knows!

When Seregon have a new release they'll be in Terrorizer for sure, and shortly after that I'll get them in Terrorizer Magazine. Seriously, I'd be interested to know just how much interest a Choice Cuts feature raises, they are a peace of piss to write, generally the hardest part is waiting for the band to send you a CD. You'd be surprised how reluctant or forgetful some people can be. We shift about 15,000 copies a month, so that's a lot of potential fans.

Ahead of you on that one, being done at the moment! They are so long overdue a feature it's a crime.
