This is true, there is that FLAC or lossless format but i just can't get on with it. An example of this is the Exodus discography i saw the other day, a lession in violence is 37mb for one song. I just don't have that kind of room.

Same here, I hate that shite. I love buying music, about 80% of my wage goes on it, but once I get a CD or Vinyl I tend to rip it so save the haseless when I want to listen to it again.

Although sometimes I do like to listen to the actual CD/LP instead of the MP3, thats probablly because I'm a gay though?

Erm if you apply those percentages to torrents thats where i sit. Its not that i don't want to support the artists i just can't afford to. Besides i still pay the cash to go gigging.
Gee.... I don't know about the rest of you guys, but lately the only things that truly motivate me are erections and bowel movements.

Guilty also!!!!

Lots of the stuff on my comp is out of print or was never CD released, and with a lot of the old bands and old CDs (second hand on eBay), the bands never get any royalties do they???

If there's a new CD I'm really waiting for I'll buy it and love it :)

A lot of the time i torrent a album to see what the band are like, and to get stuff that isnt anywhere else like you mentioned.

I love collecting CD's and don't really see the appeal in just having music all on mp3 format, although I usually rip my CD's to MP3 so I can listen to it on the move. i'm not really bothered about collecting vinyl though - as someone else said earlier in this thread I'd rather spend my money on stuff I can listen to.

What's a "record player", is it a new kind of mp3 player? If I can't walk around with 1,000,000,000 albums in my pocket I'm not really interested.

Exactly! Easy solution Luci. You can probably find them quite cheap too.

What about Nuclear War Now? His releases always look amazing, and the die-hards come with posters, patches, pins, etc.

And plenty of black metal labels release very collectable limited special editions. Recently there was a Horna/Legion of Doom split 7" (I think) that came in an old ammunition box with a pendant of the band, t-shirt, poster, etc.

The problem with collectable stuff is that it just fuels greed and the ebay market. Die-hard LPs from Yosuke sell out in days because people buy 5 copies, to sell later, and you only have to look at the prices that Southern Lord vinyl goes for on ebay.
