There's a really uncool thrash band called metallica who did a rare album called Load, not their heaviest but well worth a listen.

Speaking of that album 'Destruction' Paul is selling it on vinyl (unless it's already gone)!

YES!

I was so surprised when I heard that album - I thought that being a texan band, they'd play groove metal like Pissing Razors did, but VoS was all out thrash. Love that record, and it bloody mental album cover, to this very day. You know they've reunited now?

Yeh, I've sent them a few messages in the past begging for them to do a tour of sorts, but it doesn't look very likely.

Its such a shame, i wish Gammacide would come and play... they are so amazing! some of the catchiest riffs ever!

Liege Lord - amazing speed metal band. Their last album (Master Control) has some amazing tunes and some plodding filler, but when its good its amazing, and its totally futuristic too. Their first 2 records are just wicked ripping speed metal/Thrash.

The accused are fucking insane, i love them! might have to make the trip to brum for that one!

How about Crumbsuckers? they never seem to get enough respect, they made 2 of the greatest crossover albums ever... Dave Whit was so impressed by my Crumbsuckers shirt that he swapped it for a load of MW stuff at one of their gigs a couple of years back. that was pretty cool!

I've really struggled to find somewhere to get the Liege Lord debut from, the one with the eagle on the front and 'Freedom' in the title. Any tips?

Aye, Crumbsuckers are wicked. Life of Dreams should be known by all.

I like The Accused a lot as well. Really insane sounding. Still have to get me a copy of "More Fun Than..."

Gammacide and Liege Lord were given to me by Jamie on a mixed CD along with a load of other stuff. Those two bands really stood out for me but I can't find the CD anymore.

Recieved Phantasm on Saturday, been listening to it a lot. Not quite up to Hirax, I think, but it is pretty ridiculous (I mean this as a positive) thrash. Enjoying it a lot, have to say.

Just checked out a Formicide track. Very nice... very nice...

Another really good thing Jamie set me was Arbitrater's stuff. Their stronger tracks are fucking stonking.

I'll burn you some Gammacide + Flotsam & Jetsam if you want Caps.

Got some Hirax as well if you want, some of the albums are a lot punkier than full on thrash but I'm sure you'll like it anyway!

Methinks Victim s of Science needs a reissue. Can't get it anywhere unless you relentlessly scour the internet for a second hand CD. Or if you download it, obviously

So how about Slaughter's Strappado???

I was just thinking the same... I got the 2005 reissue cd.... got the 1991 demo and 2005 demo tracks as bonus aswell!!!

That's 70 minutes of balls out brutal thrash!!! Gammacide are the dons! No tour likely unfortunately, record label business and all that flying and money stuff prevents it :(

Quick thought - How fucking good would Forbidden supported by Razor and Gammacide be?!

E-X-E was a good mention too! First album is the only amazing thing by them IMO

Well I could go on about underrated/under heard/ lesser known thrash all day... pretty much all the music I have!

A couple of faves that havn't been mentioned yet:

Amnesia (UK) - The Unknown Entity is a great album!! Very mid-paced and quite american generic style, but I bloody love it!! Try and listen to em, cachy riffs and fun stuff

Havoc Mass (US) - Killing The Future, released in 1993 I think, so thrash was 'out' by then, these guys are good, the vocals are a bit weak but I love the riffs and heaviness of tihis album!!!

Deathrow (Ger) - Raging Steel, amazing german band, this one's my fave - really fast and quite typical 80s thrash production, but it's kinda Kreator (PTK-era) meets speed metal!!! Check it out!!!

Wehrmacht (US) are worth checking out, killer high-speed crusty thrash punk stuff... mental speeds are reached and the songs are quite funny! The track Fretboard Gymnastics is mindblowing though... seriously great instrumental!

Fastkill (Jap) are quality, 'new school' thrash but they are proper off the wall fast and screamy, fun and insane album!!

I don't think Hexenhaus count as thrash, but they probably deserve a mention, powery/techy/doomy-esque and very tasty riffs and solos

Amnesia, sounds a intresting one...found this on them about The Unknown Entity
Produced by Toranaga guitarist Andy Mitchell, Unknown Entity remained the only album of a band that was part of the thrash metal pack of UK in the late '80s along with the likes of Onslaught, Toranaga and Slammer. The band hailed from Yorkshire and opened for Sabbat and Metal Church following the release of the LP.
