Yeah, but it didn't seem so bad when you were eight years-old. They're relying far too much on Daleks at the moment though. The Cybermen and the Master could have taken the show in a different direction but, alas, nae! Plus, doing a show that both eight year-olds and geeks can enjoy is difficult.

They should try doing a show that people with taste can enjoy.

I was speaking to my cousin [girl; 10; not hot] and she watches is religiously. God knows how like. It's not as if the new DW is skipping over it's heritage either because so many of the classic bad guys are in it too.

I don't think it would be viable as a program if it didn't cater for children but I've always said I'd like to see a pretty messed up version in the form of Doctor Who film [like the one they had in the mid-90s, but not shit] or something. Traditionally, they've had the writers that could come up with stuff that would have left Kubrick slightly unnerved but not the money to pull it off. It seems they've got the opposite now: the writers are doing a fantastic job of annoying people my age who watched it on a Friday night after The Man from U.N.C.L.E. by helping put out CG tripe that's thin on plot.

The worst example of this is having flying Daleks. OK, apart from being unable to take a set of stairs, they are formidable as fuck. That doesn't matter, though, because all good Science Fiction bad guys have had flaws. Giving them the ability to fly through space in massive Legions is besides the point. Whilst I understand the need to re-vamp the Cybermen, the Daleks and the Master for the 21st Century, there's no need to make them totally lame. As a laddie, I'd always wanted to see the Cybermen and the Daleks properly square-off. They did it a couple of years back and it was completely gant. The Master's return was a huge disappointment and so was not having Ben Kingsley playing Davros as was widely rumoured for obvious reasons*. I just hope it's semi-watchable this time.

Still, at least the music is still amazing.

If you groan collectively, so help me God, I'll kill you all! Seriously, the music sounds great no matter how it's played. I've always been intrigued by the the guitar/synth balance. I reckon the late Tom Baker/early Peter Davidson is my favourite. I like the Sylvester McCoy one too but Doctor Who was on it's way out by then.

No matter how fucking gant an episode of Doctor Who is, it's worth watching just for the noise at the end that leads into the theme music:

EDIT: In retrospect the Colin Baker one, like the vast majority of his stuff, isn't as good as I remember it.

Last weekend, me and my girlfriend ventured off to the Islands of Scotland to walk about and camp for a few days. On the last night having had a charming time we ended up on Jura, a large island with only 300 people. In the pub, the locals began to interact with us, and as the night went on we were drawn into a Polish wedding aniversary. Having sank about 9 pints we were each given 3 double shots of homemade Polish vodka which went down extermely well. I then started to drink cider, and not long after decided to walk to the tent. My girlfriend stayed to party, untill later on she saw me with no trousers shoes of socks on standing out in the pissing rain in the shrubery, banging on the window making houling noises. When we got back to the tent, I fell over and couldnt get out of the wee porch bit. I then began to panic, took my boxers off and crawled around outside spewing everywhere. Meanwhile, my girl began to spew where she was sleeping in the tent, and I scooped the vomit out with my hands and tissue and threw it outside. I then slept in the remaining vomit and not long after my girl was sick in her sleep.

Horrible.
