I never had a computer or games console when I was a kid but one of my mates had a Spectrum. It looked a right pain in the arse. Run>>> Go to>>> Logon etc.
Made fuck all sense to me.

Gee.... I don't know about the rest of you guys, but lately the only things that truly motivate me are erections and bowel movements.

My mate had one when we were kids. They ran on tapes..... TAPES!!!
They also took about 10 minutes to load 1 game. Sim City was awesome though.

This (speccy +2a) and an Xbox(1) has been all I've ever needed.

Manic miner
Jet set willy
Ghostbuster
streets of Rage

Lovely.

I was always a commodore 64 person myself, pissed all over the spectrum. Got a good c64 emulator on my pc and still play some of the old games.

I for some reason like collecting C64's and Speccys. They are stupidly cheap on Ebay. I might have to dig out a spectrum soon, also Ghostbusters was fucking hard.

Spectrums were fucking dire. It took about five minutes for the tapes to load. I do remember you could make your own games though.

I was so glad when my brother got a Mega Drive.

No they were amazing, one of the truly great periods of gaming.

An age where 12 year olds could sell home made games through trade and exchange. I still can't believe i was fluent at basic when i was 7, yet have completely forgotten it now.

That isn't to say that i don't adore the 16bit age either. Games are great.

I just got rid my of Spectrum the other day, along with my Amiga 600 (and about 500 games), Just about every Gameboy upto the DS, Game Gear, PS1, PS2, Game Cube & Xbox. Only thing I kept was my SNES. Needed room because my rooms get redecorated & you can't keep everything, apparently.

But how I loved that spectrum, I''ve no idea how many hours I spent on it yet I don't think I ever completed a game. When games where still hard.

Ultimate put out so many good games. Jetpac, Lunar Jetman, Alien 8, Nightshade, Sabre Wulf, Underwurlde, Knight Lore. And I can't forget the Dizzy games, so frustrating yet so great.

At least I can still play the fan remakes from http://retrospec.sgn.net/ :D

Nope, for the whole lot I got a total of £0, just gave it away to the scouts to sell. All but about 5 where copies anyway. I would have stuck the whole lot of eBay if I could have been bothered finding some decent packaging for it all.
