i generally like the new look apart from the avatar going over the "online"thing. Is there anyway of changing the position of the online banner?

That's my main gripe too.

The short answer is yes, and no. Yes it does use the template system, and no I don't have the time to start messing around with another template. If someone wants to go away, skin the forum and give me the template, then they're by all means welcome to, but apart from that, this ain't changing, so get used to it or go fuck yourself.

The long answer is this:

phpBB2 and phpBB3 - as I've already said at least once - are extremely different in functionality, features and design. The upgrade from phpBB2 to phpBB3 isn't just whacking a new template over the top of phpBB2 - it's completely replacing the old HTML - so old templates will not work with the new version.

And believe me, I know what I'm talking about. I'm a freelance developer with about five clients and my own custom-coded PHP content management system in the alpha stages of testing. I've skinned phpBB2 and phpBB3 to two separate site layouts (UK Thrash and WWRY-London) as well as various other bits of web software like Wordpress blogs and Coppermine galleries.

The current layout is staying as it is, those who don't like it can piss and moan to their heart's content. When I have a spare week to sit down and write a template to look like the old forum then I might do it, but don't expect anything this side of June.

Change happens. Get used to it - or fuck off and die.

hey man id do it if i didnt have tons of coursework to do. btw i am quite skilled in php and other stuff that comes with it.

Another thing that's taking a bit of getting used to is the username's underneath avatars instead of above - don't think that looks at good, but I imagine you can't change that..

Oh, and also why does the Tab key move to the Submit button first and then the Preview button? I'm so used to doing Tab-Tab-Enter! It will actually be easier though once I get used to it

I don't like the thing that shows when a thread has been posted on.

I've given this a few days and I much prefer the old version, it's easier on the eyes.

For a man of my senior thrash years I have pretty good eyesight and all of my own hair and teeth. Now stand still while I clout you with my walking stick.

Cheeky young whipper-snapper.

Fixed :)

Hopefully fixing the username position and resizing the online banner down a bit means it's easier to see.

Blinding, also Craig's signature made me laugh a lot.
Gee.... I don't know about the rest of you guys, but lately the only things that truly motivate me are erections and bowel movements.
