Did he leave a note or something? If not how did manage to tell people his motives when Officer Niggemeyer had just shot his face off? I think you may have fallen victim to tabloid journalism there Daniel!

Yeah, this is what I am thinking also! That's what I mean when I ask, has it ever been proven? I mean real actual 100% proof (or should I say 101% proof, ho ho ho) that Nathan Gale shot Dimebag only because Phil told him to through a magazine interview?

Apart from Walk.
In that case i dont know because it was too long ago for me to remember. But theres nothing on wikipedia, which is good enough for me.
"Less than a year before his fatal attack, on April 5, 2004, Gale had a fight with security guards on stage during a Damageplan show in Cincinnati, Ohio, causing about $1,800 in damages."
But he was a nutter.

I thought
It was because Phil blamed Dimebag for the break up of Pantera, and because Nathan Gale was a weird fan he took it personal and shot Dimebag. Gale was in a "band" and it was clear that he was obsessed with Pantera because he stole lyrics and claimed they were his own etc.

I can't believe what a wanker Nathan Gale is. He really is such a wanker.

It's hard to blame anyone in this. It's doesn't matter who said anything. Pantera was just a band and who _cares_ if they split up? The shooter was clearly disturbed and needed some sort of psychiatric treatment. While it's sad for people who knew 'Dimebag' it's relatively not that sad for anyone else.
The whole Dimebag memorial shit really gets on my tits. While I'm sure he is much missed by his friends the rest of the planet should have moved on. He wasn't the best guitarist ever, though very talented, and his designs for guitars are far from brilliant, though very interesting. He has been placed on a pedestal far above his station. It does his legacy no favours that he is now Dimebag-Cha-Ching(TM).

Apparently Nathan had some serious mental issues - SERIOUS mental issues. He supposedly believed that Pantera stole his music and they were mocking him or some shit.
There are many theories, but I don't believe for a second that it was Phil's fault.

Re: Behind the scenes of Evile doing Cemetery Gates!
I think it's the way Dimebag died more than anything that fans still just can't really get over. If he'd have choked on his own puke because he drank too much JD or something like that, it would've been sad for sure, but I don't think everyone would've gone so berserk. But for someone who was apparently one of the nicest guys ever, to get gunned down on stage in front of his fans, and let's not forget his own brother too, that's some pretty horrible shit. No one's ever going to forget that, and yeah he wasn't the best guitarist in the world and Pantera weren't the best band ever, but to a lot of people he was a guitar hero, and to have one of your heroes taken in such a horrible way is really fucked up. Of course the people who weren't really fans of the man aren't going to care much - and why should they, they didn't know him - but I think it's fair enough for the fans and the people who loved him to want to remember him in whatever way they want. In my personal opinion, Dimebag was no John Bonham, but I always thought he was fucking awesome nonetheless, and I felt sad when I heard that news. I wouldn't be all melodramatic about it because of course I didn't know the man, but I don't see the problem at all in remembering and paying respect to him.
Of course it is a shame that people like Bonham, Hendrix, Mercury etc. don't get the same fuss made about them come their anniversaries, but I guess it's a combination of tabloid madness and, as I said, the way Dimebag died that makes it such a crazy thing of the modern age.

Yeah of course, it's just all this pointless debate about whether "Phil was to blame" etc. when none of us really know what we're talking about.
