There isn't many thrash bands that I don't like. Though Voivod was very disappointing and I was looking forward to hearing them as well but I couldn't listen more than a few seconds before I got bored.

Everybody has their own opinion....mine is that this thread is stupid!
How any of the "Big four...five" mentioned bands can be thought of as overated is crazy. These bands have been idolised by millions, sold millions and probably been the influence for musicians and bands all over the world.
Shame on you all!

that doesn't mean they are not rated more highly than they deserve, in relation to other bands who people might think are just as good, and yet not 'rated' in the same way. It's just a discussion.

For me the most over-rated is probably Slayer, I like Reign in Blood for its sheer aggresion, you dont get much better than that for 30 minutes of brutality, but apart from that I find them entirely dull.

Slayer. I do not understand the hype with Reign in blood, sure the song Rainning blood is great and aangel of Death but the rest just typical Slayer. They are a band without much veriaty in their music, Every album is just about the same with only one or two songs which stand out.

Sorry, for taking so long to give my Dark Angel update. Its just that every song on that alubm is 20 minutes long!

What a fucking chore that was. In reality I got bored half way throught the first song and then skipped to the second. I then got bored of that half way through and went to watch The OC and Lost.

Dark Angel still suck. Sorry! Even more so than Slayer (odd I know).

What about Darkness Descends? Try that one, im determined to get a 'Theyre ok' out of you!

Have you actually listened to the first 5 Slayer albums?! They're all very different to each other!

And on topic, I'd say that most of the American contingent (Anthrax, Testament, Megadeth, etc) are overrated, especially in relation to the Germans, who I always thought were generally better and dirtier bands.

Dark Angel are overrated. I have 3 albums which I got from Ian. And I don't like a single song of any one of them.

Simply put, I have NO respect or time for anyone who has a bad word to say about Time Does Not Heal. They're simply a fool.

Hyder doesn't really like Thrash anyway, he seems to be more into Speed/Power/Heavy Metal than he does Thrash.
