Grave New World is fuckin shiiiiiiiiiiiiiite i remember first time i heard it i thought it was a different band!!!
anything Annihilator did after Never, Neverland is terrible.
Rust in Peace remaster was good when i used to have a CD player.. the orig master was at a very low volume i remember!

I think I'm one of the only ones who loves the Rust In Peace remaster. The snare drum sounds lovely, it's all a lot more crisp and delicious sounding, but then again I wasn't overly familiar with the original recording (just a bit, but not much) when I got the remaster (I bought it when it was released, which was many a year ago), so I haven't recognised the new guitar/vocal bits, but I do love the new production, at least they made an effort to make it sound different and more lovely rather than just making it a tiny bit louder and declaring "Christ it sounds amazing you must buy it again!@!121". Yes, I'm looking at you, Holy Diver and Still Life by Opeth.

Re: once great thrash bands' pop/unTRUE release?
here's my method:
get the ORIGINAL and Remaster version
I got the org and remaster of Killing is my business
I absolutely love the remastered sound
but I can't stand the censored these boots
I rip the remaster version with the org version these boots
and put it into my ipod for years
Actually this thread reminding me how LOW the volume the old RIP are
so, I started to think maybe I need to get the remaster version of RIP
and do the same thing I did for my killing is my business
[oh yeah, itunes have a function to pump up the volume, but I still think maybe I need to replace my old RIP ]

I heard Mudstain talking about how he likes putting 'ear candy' in the songs, you know sound effects and other crap to make up for shitty songwriting.
The thought of hearing like, planes and other annoying sound clips over RIP stuff makes me want to yank my hair out!

I haven't noticed any such effects on the RIP remaster, is there suppose to be any fancy candy on there?

Yeah I heard him saying something like that, it made me sick. Maybe there isn't that stuff on RIP but I know he put crappy effects over his new albums.

Ravens "stay hard" album was awful. why the fuck did they go all hair/power metally and at such a slow lame tempo.
unforgivable.
the album should be re-named "cant get it up" or "need viagra"

On the issue of Megadeth remasters, remember Mustaine reformed the band in 2004 without Ellefson. This makes me think Mustaine purposefully removed/replaced Ellefsons (lead) bass lines and backing vocals.
Risk was their most poppy album, along with Cryptic Writings but I actually think that over half the 'heaviness' lies in the execution and the themes or the music, and the personal glint each member over the band brings to it.
Risk is a great rock/blues album. Well written, very well produced and it shows that Megadeth are a truly talented and creative lot. Bands like Megadeth, Maiden, Testament etc go so far above just 'thrash'.
I hope that the new wave of great musicians come along quickly because I feel let down by myself and our society's cultural appetite in general.
So yeah, Risk is their sell out (which didn't sell well) but it's a great album. My favourite songs off it are Prince Of Darkness, Time: The End, Seven, Wanderlust. GREAT FUCKING ALBUM
