i voted butlins. if we go to an 80s adult only weekend like the one ive just been on, we can all go to the front row of some cheesy old pop band and heckle the fuck out of them, while all dressed in denim and leather. For £80 a person (based on 2 sharing) it includes unlimited amount of breakfast and dinner, all the entertainment and 3 nights accomidation, and both minehead and skeggy are easy to get too. No passports needed either.

I would be more excited about the whole going abroad plan if it was somewhere I wanted to go to - I have absolutely no desire to go to a faceless sun-drenched resort populated by flabby British chavs.

I know we are not really planning this to 'absorb culture' or 'broaden our horizons', but that seems all the more reason to just meet up and have equal laughs here - what I mean is the only real attraction in going to Tenerife for me is that forumers will be there and it would be fun to meet up.... so that might as well occur somewhere closer to home which is easier to get to.

That being said, if the proposed destination WAS somewhere with a bit of identity and cultural interest, I'd be more than happy to go.

Main reason I want to go is the price, seems like a bloody good deal. Though if you wanted to go abroad for "culture" I'd guess at Barcelona or Rome, both are likely to be pretty expensive.

Alternate idea: we could go on a beer tour of Germany?

I would like to add Amsterdam is actually quite a good cultural designation. Lot's of..erm..architecture and stuff...Anne Frank Museum...

We could all just go to the Sidmouth Folk Festival next August. It's amazing and the town is so lovely and bloody brilliant.
