You do need some quite bassy speakers to fully appreciate the bass, but it is clearly a throbulating performance! I particularly like the bass work on The Rauncher.
In fact, the best thing about the EP for me is what a stirling performance has been put in by each member - the drums are hyper excellent, vocals are perfect and those lead guitars are bloody superb - wonder how the leads were shared out between Sam and Tom? Seriously good solos.

For me, that's probably the only criticism - I don't actually think the bass comes through quite enough, unless you are really listening out for the bass lines particularly. You can still hear all the lovely joy, but personally I'd prefer for the bass to be a bit more prominent, maybe just because I'm a bassist, but there are so many lovely things Paul does that I don't think you can quite hear properly. But still, the tone of it and everything is great, and it generally still sounds amazing, so unbelievable joys for all.
I agree i have to strain a bit to hear them and considering that they are so blood good it's a shame.
Gee.... I don't know about the rest of you guys, but lately the only things that truly motivate me are erections and bowel movements.

Thanks guys, glad you like the bass, really appreciate it! I think you can hear it pretty well, expecially compared to most modern metal productions. I think the EP in general is super awesome, and really punchy sounding. If you want to know about the solos, I'm pretty sure theyre all Sam except for the first one of the solo section of Laserdrome, the ultra-joy riff/solo in THUMP, and the ultra-joy riff/solo in Rauncher... and maybe some more I forgot. There are also a few which Tom mostly wrote but Sam now plays live so ended up doing them on the record. Think it's sold out at the mo, so they're getting some more made!

On a sad note in THUMP I thought a lyric went:
"Power _chords_ by cell mutation"
when in fact it goes
"Power _caused_ by cell mutation"
which makes more sense but.... well I prefer my line.

Paul wrote and recorded the bass for the EP

Hello boys, I'm going to try and contribute on here a bit more now as and when I am dossing around at work.
Just thought I'd add another ridiculous amount of unabashed praise to this EP. Proper wicked sounding with an excellent mix of class, aggression, technicality and POWAAAAAR. Wicked. I agree with Craig that The Rauncher is the best song on the EP and is simply incredible. It goes everywhere and that little trad-metal harmony interlude bit near the end is just so good. I go mental listening to that.
Tip of the cap, lads. Tip of the cap.
However, I definitely do want more.

Am I the only one that doesn't think "The Rauncher" is the best song? It's a good song and sounds great but I think Laserdrome is a better song.

Re: Mutant Cranium Upload V1
I remember, before I had any idea I was going to be in the band (actually, I might have known a little bit, I can't remember), when I saw Mutant play The Rauncher at Metalbrew (that was the first time I saw it) I was blown away by it. It really is unbelievable, but I think Tom has ruined his life by writing such an amazing song, now he has to live under the pressure of trying to write songs just as good as this one, which I don't think he'll be able to do because he's rubbish. I don't even like this band, The Rauncher's a rubbish song. I quit, I'm going to join Anne Seagull's band, it's much better.

Re: Mutant Cranium Upload V1
I remember reading on the Myspace blog that some 'studio report' style video footage was recorded for Laserdrome. Is any of this likely to surface?
