Thanks Dazza! One of the reasons we didn't want to do more guitar layering was that we're a 3-piece, so we didn't want to stray too far from our live sound.

Re: DECEPTOR - Soothsayer EP [OUT NOW!]
bought the cd off james last night during bonestorm.
im listening to it as i type.
its amazing, and so crisp and clear. i like the twists and turns which set each track apart.
i like cds which take me on a journey throughout.
theres some well placed acoustic sections and also a really power/glory metal section on oracle Of Despair with the video gamey, japanese style triumphant solo.
theres some elements of thrash, death, black, power, speed metal all blended to create a unique listen and the scourging-scream,crow-like vocals are perfectly harmonised to the melody.
cool to hear some technical blastbeaty sections.
sound effects are always cool when placed subtly.ie:thunder, and i like the submarine SE on kursk.
cant wait for the launch party at unicorn in july!
well done guys.
also the cd cover art and linear notes/pics etc all deserve a mention.very professional looking and it looks like an actual cd bought from a store/on a label.

It's releases from bands of this quality that make me go 'Wow, maybe everything isn't so shitty after all!'
Then I hear White Hazzard and cry myself to sleep.

Re: DECEPTOR - Soothsayer EP [OUT NOW!]
I'm blasting it into my holy ears now, mega power blast madness everywhere! What glorious bass power and heavy metal thunder all around my glorious brain. Christ, the blast beats have just begun. This is great indeed. Lovely production too, well done Sam Klemp On Gangs. Soothsayer is amazing, I'm only two songs in so far, but it's wonderful indeed. I like you Deceptor. There isn't much that excites me about new heavy metal things these days apart from Saxon's new releases, I'm more interested in bands who like to sing about farms and orchards and lovely apples that are gold and sweet, but Deceptor bring that wonderful excitement back to my brain with this lovely EP. Really well done indeed. This is amazing.
And an extra well done for the vocal delay joy at the end of Soothsayer, and an extra special well done for having amazing rain sounds at the beginning of Oracle of Despair. I love rain sounds, and you have just given me a lovely bit of joy right there. And I love the hilarious (I mean hilarious in a good way, that because they are so good and joyful they make me laugh with excited joy) vocal harmonies in the chorus of Oracle. There are some really nice vocal effects everywhere too. And what lovely guitar harmonies in this song, the middle section is amazing. And also after the harmonies there's a little riff which sounds like The Unbeliever by Iron Maiden, which is secretly hilarious for me. How lovely indeed! And what a glorious heavy metal ending! Dah-dah-dah! Yes!
And Kursk. Christ, bloody christ Kursk, why are you so wonderful? How are you so glorious in my face? That amazing underwater submarine madness intro is amazing. And amazing bits everywhere. So many amazing bits and glorious wonderful riffs!
So generally well done for goodness sake, now do an EP of amazing 10 minute songs with violins and keyboards and trumpets and you'll have everything covered.
Imagine if I wrote for a magazine and that was my review of Deceptor.

Ok I've just listened to it a second time now and it really is amazing. And I really love the production, the levels of all the instruments are so lovely, the band really blends well together, and the drums don't sound too mental and overpowering and robotic like most modern 'metal' bands these days. It's very well mixed and sounds like a lot of effort was put into the production without going over the top, really lovely and impressive indeed. I love it. Goodness me.

I've had this for a couple of weeks now and it is great. All the songs are wicked but I think that each track is better than the previous. I also agree that the production is bang-on and the packaging's very nice as well. Excellent stuff.
