It's fairly pointless.
I really don't see why inter-band shit-talking should be discouraged. Personally, I'd think it would be good for the music if bands were more open about what they thought the bad points of each other's stuff were. Sure, it'd probably just end up in a bunch of hissy bitch-fits, but at least you'd have an opinion from someone else doing more or less the same thing.

Iain's point is basically the lines I was thinking on, surely it's on Morton's head if he wants to make some public point about another band - I didn't see why that should be stifled just because it originated on another website.
Saying that, the thread does seem to have fizzled out, and I think enough has been said for people to take a stance on the matter.
