Logging In Problems - Fixed

Postby Craig on Wed Mar 26, 2008 6:36 pm

A few people have been having pretty severe problems staying logged in recently - so I've had yet another play around with the cookie settings for the forum as well as tying it to the new gallery.

Hopefully the problems should now be well and truly fixed - though I've heard of some people logging in and being redirected back to the forum index only to be told they're not logged in, so just delete any and all cookies for ukthrash.co.uk (Firefox will allow you to delete individual cookies, not too sure about Safari or IE) and you will stay logged in.

Firefox
Go to Tools --> Options --> Privacy --> Show Cookies and scroll down to ukthrash.co.uk. Highlight the folder containing the cookies and click on Remove Cookies.

Internet Explorer 7
Go to Tools --> Internet Options and click on Delete under the Browsing History section, then Delete Cookies on the Cookies section (or Delete All if you want to delete all of the temporary information stored, including the cache). Unfortunately it will delete all of your cookies - you can't delete just the UK Thrash ones, but that's IE for you.

Cheers,
Craig

Does it? I followed the instructions regarging deleting cookies, using the "delete all board cookies" thing, but the site wouldn't log me in at all,but the frustrating thing was that according to the list of names at the bottom of the screen,I was already logged in.NO I WASN'T!11111111

So,I've logged in through firefox instead, and here I am.

Probably.

Try to delete cookies manually through your browser, I'm not sure how reliable the link at the bottom actually is.

Edit

In Firefox, go to Tools --> Options --> Privacy --> Show Cookies and scroll down to ukthrash.co.uk. Highlight the folder containing the cookies and click on Remove Cookies.

CRAIG F'TANG! Also the gallery is an excellent idea. But no doubt is going to be a major drain on bw yo yo yo yo yo.
Gee.... I don't know about the rest of you guys, but lately the only things that truly motivate me are erections and bowel movements.

Awesome, thats fixed it for me. I assumed it wasn't working coz I am running Firefox Beta 4 on OSX and being beta there are quite a few little niggles.

I deleted by cookies by going to preference->privacy->show cookies, select all the UKThrash cookies and delete them (there is a delete button). I deleted about 20 cookies!

Right, well I was having no problem with login before, and now it's died. According to the main site page there's three of me here, but I can't stay logged in on IE. FireFox is fine, so it seems.

I've just logged in on IE7 and it's been fine, so I can only suggest completely clearing your browser's cache and cookies (instructions in the first post).

On the subject of cookies:
