Pretty much that but in most cases remove the word profit.

agreed

I never made a penny profit putting on shows over the years, mainly because money was paid straight back to the bands that played; but i very nearly lost my house due to the amount of money it cost me ...

I really like the new English bands. They doing very well, a much better that the new dutch bands.

In the eighties the English bands were not very famous in the Netherlands. Especially the biggist metal magazine from here were never positive about bands from the UK. Only Sabbat got a 80/100.

Bands like Acid Reign, Amnesia, DAM, Decimator, Detritus, Slammer, Onslaught, were not popular cause of this magazine.

I don't think it's healthy that promoters don't take some profit. If only to provide some incentive for them to continue. If it's true that no one is making money: not the band, promoter or venue owner; or that one takes all the money then it's not a healthy scene IMO.

Who would you say are the best new Dutch bands out of interest?

Haha, to be honestly I don't even know 1 band with a label. A few young bands playing oldschool thrash metal like My Own Mess and Sudden, but they have both only one or two demo's.

In the eighties were a much more thrash bands and they were really good, like Vulture, Jewel, Mysto Dysto, Messina and Pestilence (which doing still very well world wide).

I have no problem taking money, but generally the bands need it more than the promoters haha!

The state of UK Thrash right now is shit because Earache are on the prowl.
Slap Digby about a bit and everything might be alright.

I think Earache have done a lot to promote Evile and Gama Bomb, the only issue I think is whether thrash is going to be something they want to continue to invest in. I do think it would be good if they allowed their bands to have a bit more identity with regards to the production tho.

Good to see other labels getting involved, ie Candlelight with Savage Messiah, and if it wasn't for the state of the economy, we might have seen other bands getting picked up by other labels..

If that's even the issue, as long as promoters are brave enough to put thrash gigs on continuously then I think the 'scene' will be fine.

Oh man is it hell!!! Theres a few stories out there at the moment that i best leave untold. But if you take a look at the Earache HMKillers page they take a dig at thrash. I heard Municipal Waste might be doing their last album with them aswell, and they're leaving that whole style they had behind. I mean, check their song titled and their album cover. Its a big move away from it all.

I thought Earache were all about this New New Wave Of British Heavy Metal sounding bands with the amount of promotion they are giving Cauldron recently.
