The UK Thrash Holiday 2009, Part One: Location

Postby Craig on Fri Oct 17, 2008 10:52 am

Both Billy (Dian Wei) and Lev have tried to sort a UK Thrash holiday recently and it always seems to start off with people expressing interest but disintegrating at various stages. The only way I think we're going to get things done is to go from scratch and try and sort things out to suit near enough everyone.

It's been fairly well-established from the other threads that June to July is pretty good for most people, so that doesn't really need to be discussed. Where we go, however, is a completely different story .

I would personally love to go somewhere outside of the UK, I haven't had a "proper" holiday in years (my last passport expired in 2002), location-wise I'd happily go with the majority if it's not ridiculously hot (I prefer the "warm" weather rather than "outright hot"). James had said he wants somewhere with a bit of culture, so maybe Rome/Athens/Barcelona? Downside of that is that it's going to cost as most of those types of places are already fairly tourist-friendly with inflated prices.

A UK-based trip would be good, and I probably would go (depending on where we decided) but I'd much rather go abroad :)

So what are people's preferences for location and cost - assuming it's a one-week trip?

I'd rather somewhere in country. The Butlins idea was a good one, along with the manor in second, and Lev's house would also be grand.

I'm more likely to come if it's in this country.

The only way I'll come is if there is paintballing and I get to have my own customised quad bike with a gun turret that fires both paint and nets.

As much as I'd love to go abroad, I'd have to sort a passport and what not. I'd just like a weekend with you splendid chaps and something to keep us entertained. Butlins, Alton Towers, etc etc. I really just want to relive the lovely summer Wacken days.

Those were nice days, and Bloodstock too. As long as there's stuff to do and plentiful supplies of vitals, we'll be ok. Plus the UK e'll be cheaper.

I've been told it wasn't as good as Wacken, i really don't care any more i just want us all to meet up and be lovely friends again.
Gee.... I don't know about the rest of you guys, but lately the only things that truly motivate me are erections and bowel movements.

Thank the Police coming straight from the underground...

Well I wouldn't know, and our paths need to finally cross. We're the heart and soul of this merry group in all honesty.

It wasn't as good as Wacken, Wacken had the X Factor feel, which I crave again. So we need to go to a festival, ignore all the bands, spends stupid amounts of money on fanta and go swimming in cold water.

I think its obvious that we will have more festival meet ups so if we are going to do an actual holiday it would be nice to go abroad, however money wise UK would be cheaper so I'm not to bothered either way, as long as I get to meet all the lovely chaps I'm yet to see!

My preference now would be a weekend, in the UK, with something fun to do. I just want a lot of people there really. I'm not too bothered about being abroad or anything. I JUST WANT SOME FRRIENDNSDS!!1

Clearly using a manor like in Black Books is the best idea since we get control over everything.

It is a top idea, but what fun will we be able to have?
