Nah nah nah, don't exaggerate!

Becker was 18 on the first album and Marty was 24.

OK, the songs without the vocals (i.e. the ones you mentioned) were acceptable. Mind you, if you want that you need look no further than Vivaldi...

Warmoth is american, I can't be arsed with risking getting another broken guitar through the post!

I'll probably still go through Feline.

Nice.

I toyed with the idea of building a guitar from parts acquired from eBay. I have a rear-mounted (for two Humbuckers) Strat' body and got a Kahler Spyder to go with it for about £30. I have other bits and pieces floating about but, for now, the project is on hold.

Me and a mate recently fixed a Jackson neck to a flying V body, looks quite good. Needs some tweaking, but nothing too major.
Gee.... I don't know about the rest of you guys, but lately the only things that truly motivate me are erections and bowel movements.

I fucking hate sorting the intonation on my guitars. Doing it when you've got a Floyd Rose just makes it a pain in the arse like.

Floyd Roses are shit. For ages mine was all lopsided and the strings on one end were really high up while the other were almost touching the neck. I literally had to hammer the bridge into the guitar to fix it.

It is pretty much the same, we just have to do a little sanding and gluing etc.

You just need to set the springs in the back of your guitar to the correct tension to counterbalance the strings and the bridge'll sit flush. Intonation is a bit of a pain in the arse because you have to detune the string just so you can get to the allenhead thing in the first place. That or you just guess how much you have to slide it before you string the guitar in the first place.

The shit thing about Floyds is that hardly anyone knows how to set them up properly. I've known a lot of guys who've forked out for a tit in the shop to 'set it up' and he's basically done nothing. I'm a fucking surgeon when it comes to setting up guitars though. Shame I only play about half an hour a week these days...

You just need to be launched in at the deep end with this stuff to be honest.

I got my first Floyd-ed guitar when I was 15 and didn't have a clue how to set them up. After some stuff went tits up I just spent ages reading about how to do it on th'internet and, after a while, it becomes second nature. The key to having your Floyd work well is to take your time setting it up. I usually stick on an Arnie film whilst doing it and take regular breaks so as not to get frustrated and launch the guitar.

I don't use my guitar that's got the floyd (because the switch is being a right gay, and I need to fix that at some point - that and i got a new guitar, which is noice)

I pretty much know what I'm doing, but I'm sooo lazy. I need to learn how to make sure my intonation is set and how to do it myself.

Pretty much the same with me....I just got a cheapo Jackson when I was like 14 and knew fuck all about a FR and took all the strings off at once :shame: (Don't ask my why I did this). Needless to say I still have night terrors about that fateful decision but it taught me alot about how a FR works and how to make it do what you want

i have a floyd on my ESP which ive owned for a few months, i havent restrung it myself yet cus a) i dont change strings regularly enough and b) i had it restrung when i had it set up about a month after owning it.

Anyhow, if i change the strings one at a time tuning them to pitch each time, will the guitar still play the same?

Ive set a floyd up on a charvel before, using info off tint but that was a while ago. Ive had the esp set up you see and it plays really nice so i dont wanna fuck it up by changin stringz!

If you change the strings one at a time the action shouldn't change. Bear in mind you should still stretch in the strings even if you're doing them one at a time. I tend to take all the strings off so I can clean the fretboard and wire. If you stick a battery or a beermat over the bridge cavity you'll be able to get the strings on without the use of brute strength. To be honest, as long as you put on the exact same gauge of strings as you took off, the action shouldn't change.
