THE THRASH MAP
Image

This started off as a means to find local bands and then it just kinda took off. I think this could be a pretty cool thing to check out, as well as a resource for bands looking to make contacts in their area. I don't want to restrict it to only new wave bands, but I DO want to restrict it to ACTIVE thrash bands.

This could turn into a valuable resource for bands looking to book tours.

To get your band / any band on here, post a link to their logo along with their city and country and I'll put it up. Just the logo, no album art or flyers, if you can help it.

Reminds me of something off of the American hardcore documentary when Henry Rollins is talking about the bands defining the area

Haha, this reminds me of the UK Thrash map, where people found it funny to put their band in the Shetland Islands.

So LK and I have been working on a new version of this on New Metal Army. I've integrated the data with Google Maps and Last.fm. I think it's ready for general use now.

Zooming in you can click on a band, see their logo links to myspace/lastfm and homepage if they have one, genres they fit in and importantly how well listened to they are on lastfm (updated every night between 2am and 4 am)

At the highest zoom levels all the venues are displayed. Over 400 UK venues that host metal gigs are displayed with links to their homepage.

Anyone registered user can add/edit a band or venue so head on over and see if you details are correct http://www.newmetalarmy.com/map.

Any problems/suggestions, email me at dazza@newmetalarmy.com. I think it's pretty sweet myself.
