Re: Evile Infected Nations Release Show
didnt see speed theory, mutant were great as always and the new songs super computer and zoom gang ruled, the riffs were really catchy. evile blistered through their set with some minor structural and lyrical hick ups but other than that they were amazing but they didnt play metamorphosis which made me very very very sad....

Re: Evile Infected Nations Release Show
Bloody superb. The new Evile stuff sounds proper heavy as fuck live! Good stuff,
Shame we couldnt have had more or Mutant and Evile. New Mutant stuff sounds class, really liked Super Computer, cmon boys we know its comming- when is this album going to be out?
Evile needs to be on a bigger stage, they def suit the bigger set ups better!

Saw about three seconds of Speed Theory before I decided I'd rather have another beer outside, Mutant were amazing and Evile were doubly amazing. Best use of a tenner ever, I think.

Speed Theory arent everyones. cuppa tea, but they are top notch lads.
The singer Wes, is a true full on thrasher. He is always down at the front, supporting the other bands.
Hope everyone had fun

Unfortunately I missed Speed Theory due to transportation fuck ups but I concur with everyone, Mutant and Evile were great. I shot a lot of footage (thanks to Earache for letting me shoot Evile) and I'm experiencing multiple orgasms watching it now. I will upload tonight....

Re: Evile Infected Nations Release Show
Ok, wow, what a bloody day/night!
After sitting through hours of horrible traffic we finally got to Islington, and it was a good gig. It was so much of a rush and a stress though, the experience was spoilt a bit, but as long as everyone else had a great time, that's the main thing. And it was so bloody great to see Evile again, I love them and want to marry them all. Super Computer seemed to go down really well too, which was great! I'm sure the song will probably undergo a few more changes before it is fully complete, but the prototype worked well! Speed Theory certainly weren't my cup of tea, but they did seem like good rocking lads, so fair play to them. Evile were crushing and powerful! Infected Nation was AMAZING live, I just hope next time they'll use the acoustic intro on the CD as an intro to coming on stage (like they did for WHAATD last tour), as they didn't play it at all last night, which made me cry a little bit. But basically, amazing and lovely.
And then it was off to Soho... well, the journey was a fucking nightmare, driving around central London on a Friday night isn't something I'd recommend to anyone, it was absolutely bloody horrible. But once we got to St Moritz, a tiny, tiny but nice little club, everything went mental! It was definitely one of the most amazing gigs we've all ever done I think! So much fun, everyone was going mad in this tiny room, I had my face hit with the mic so many times (we all did actually), people kept falling on to the stage, it was bloody hilarious, and just amazing. So good! Also amazing well dones indeed to Donny for coming down to such a late gig, thanks for coming down man!
All in all, an hilarious adventure. Absolutely awesome.

Very good night. Speed Theory were average. Mutant and Evile were as amazing as usual, glad Evile played Genocide and Schizophrenia.

Re: Evile Infected Nations Release Show
after much rushing,i got to the academy at 5 to 8.perfect timing(although i was knackered and starving)as Mutant hadnt played yet.
anyway,i was surprised it wasnt in the larger venue, being an album launch party etc.
i remember it was this time 2years ago i saw Mutant for the 2nd time(supporting send more paramedics)at this venue.
there was quite a hardcore crowd that time due to some shit hardcore band being higher on the bill.basically, the atmosphere back then with just a handful of thrashers and a room full of HC kids was too serious.
im trying to say, that it just goes to show how, over the last few years,Mutant have stuck at it,gained popularity and got the crowd they deserved this time around.(at this venue)
of course all of us on here know they are great anyway.
it made so much difference to see them play at this packed out, thrashier themed gig.
rather than just a row of moderate headbangers in the crowd(myself included)like the other year(and a crowd full of HC posers)this time Mutant had a much bigger, energetic, mental crowd with all the moshing, circling, chanting and mayhem weve come to expect.the 2 new tunes were class.also i think its cool that a lot of youngsters(14-18)were in there to see and behold the thrashband of 'their' future.hats off to Mutant for playing again on the same night, thats hardcore(excuse the irony)
Evile were brutal as ever, the pit pretty much filled the room during certain tracks.no one was safe from the carnage.
some bigger buggers in this pit too and it got so slippery.all good fun though.a good balance of old and new tracks on the setlist.
these Earache album launches/xmas parties etc tend to lack a certain promotional vibe about them.i know obviously the album was available at the merch stand.im not suggesting that the label should supply party bags and balloons etc but i just feel theres something missing at times.its not a dig at the bands or band members on the label.i just think there could be some more exclusive moments for example:poster signings/giveaways,album signings/photo,official afterpartys, some sort of prizes ie:a comp/draw for a backstage pass/meet the band etc.obviously not for everyone in the whole venue during the gig but maybe the afternoon beforehand or at a set location after the gig.of course bands are busy but theres always a few mins to spare.
i dont want to sound like some ungrateful sore loser fanboy.i just think it would be great for the youngsters/die hard fans of these bands who attend these 'launch parties'.
this isnt a rant, its just that i felt that the gig was just like any other.there wasnt any standout moments to indicate a launch party.even if an earache exec gave a quick few words or just announced the band onto the stage or something it would be a nice touch.i dunno.
anyone else know what i mean or am i just rambling/waffling?
great night though.went to my first metal 'club' with Stephan and Stevedot2.that was a laugh.got home at 8.30 this morning.worth it though.i could type all day about our antics but id rather just embarrass us all in person to anyone who asks about how our night went

I think you're right Rik. The flyer did talk about exclusive giveaways and prizes but I didn't notice any of it. There was also a mention of a skateboard and after show part on the earache blog: http://earachenews.blogspot.com/2009/09 ... -band.html

Evile's first album launch had free giverways on the flyers and didn't happen.
