I think His Dark Materials are fantastic! It's a long time since I read them though.

How lame is it that the film has the pointless American title, The Golden Compass?!

I know I don't understand that at all. Any idea if the film will be any good? I know it won't compare with the books, but...

The Golden Compass was actually the working title of the book

Fair enough (makes sense considering the other titles and the name of the trilogy), but why change it for the film? And is the film going to be any good?

I have been reading through the Dark tower series, H.P Lovecraft shorts and Day/Night/Twilight watch books.
