My favourite German thrash albums are actually Paradox's Heresy and Vendetta's Brain Damage... though if we go with the usual suspects I pick Kreator! Honourable mention to Grinder too, Dead End is ace...

It's so hard for me to choose out of Sodom, Kreator and Destruction but i chose Kreator because of Pleasure to Kill and Endless Pain.

If Destruction could release another album like Infernal Overkill that would be killer!

And Sodom are still making good albums and the re-recording of The Final Sign of Evil is killer too!! they managed to find the right sound. And the Obsessed by Cruelty and Persecution Mania albums fucking rule aswell!! top notch Thrash Metal!!

They kept it raww!!

For me it's SODOM, why? they never quit and never changed their sound. I like the old Destruction stuff but the post reunion stuff is very mediocre IMO. Kreator whimped out in the mid 90's and I don;t like their newer "Gotheborg" melodic style. After watching the new SODOM DVD "Lords of Depravity" I cannot conclude anything else than that Sodom rules!

I also like Tankard a lot BTW and Germany has a lot of cool underground acts like Holy Moses, Protector, Deathrow, Exumer, Darkness and so on, but where I like them all you have to be honest and see they are second grade compared to the big 4 (I'll include Tankard)

Grinder isn't bad but they don't sound very German at all, to me they have more or a bay area type sound especially on "Nothing is Sacred". technically it's a good band, but they lacked in almost all other respects IMO. Their drummer now pays in Grave Digger BTW.

It's hard for me to decide, but in my opinion none of the four opportunities is the best one. There are many underground bands, e.g. Ketzer, Witching Hour or Division Speed, which are better than Destruction, Kreator, Sodom and Tankard.
