It's not bullshit. When the album came out there were shitloads of interviews with Rubin and he talked about it. I remember it clearly. He said it was the best way to get the drums down. I'm not saying it's not great drumming - it's just two separate drum tracks.
Mort might remember those interviews. He's about as old as me. :lol:

i never knew that about the drums on reign in blood, not that it puts lombardo anywhere near the shit drummer category

yeah, they only recorded it that way because it made the recording better, not because dave couldn't play it haha

Yeah, I heard that too. Someone also told me that on master of puppets each drum is recorded seperately!

Indeed, in fact it probably makes him an even better drummer for being able to play the cymbals separately and get them in time with everything else (if this is indeed true). I can imagine the coordination of madness required.

Fuck yes!! try Swallowed In Black for size, it gets faster in places, and the riffs are a bit nuts!!!!
