Recommend Me An iPod

Postby Metal Iain on Tue Oct 21, 2008 2:01 pm

Right-O,

I'm sure I posted something similar like this before but really can't be ringed looking for it just to find it was included in the Purge.

Basically, I'm looking for an iPod, or better, to replace the ancient iPod Mini which crashed on me some time ago. There seems to be plenty of options on eBay but I have fuck-all idea of what there is out there at the moment. I'm basically looking for an MP3 player which can hold a butt-load of songs, has a good battery life and one which I won't crunch when sitting down - the new iPod Nanos look like they have the structural integrity of a digestive biscuit. I'm assuming I'm going to get an iPod which has photo and video and all that bollocks on it but am really just looking for something that will reduce the boredom of sitting on buses etc.

HELP ME!

P.S. Is the shuffle mode on iPods any less shite now than it used to be?

P.P.S. [tight-fisted Scot]I would rather spend, like, £100-ish on it.[/tight-fisted Scot]

Incidentally, which program do Zens use? If I were to go with a Creative Zen, would I have to make sure all my files are MP3 or MP4 or can you use both, like with iTunes?

I have an ipod nano that is 2 years old and its made of steel, so it is quite durable. Its only a 2gb, but i have over 700 songs on it, and the battery lasts me about 12-15 hours. Reconditioned 4gb ones can be got on ebay now from reliable sellers in this country for about £50-60.

I would say get a Zen, they are brilliant - you can Windows Media Player, Creative MediaSource (crap version of Media Player) or drag-and-drop from My Computer.

Format-wise, all of my music is either 160kbps or 192kbps MP3, but going on the specs here it should be able to handle it:

"AAC (.M4A) support along with MP3, WMA, WAVE and Audible"

I got the 32GB version for £160 including postage a few months ago so it should have dropped since then. For the capacity, it's seriously tiny, it will fit in the top pocket of a shirt, but it's slightly too heavy to be carried there. I have it in my pocket most of the time and never really consciously notice it.

This is the truth. Make sure it is the 32gig you get though so that it will have a bit of shelf life.

Gee.... I don't know about the rest of you guys, but lately the only things that truly motivate me are erections and bowel movements.

i hate mp3 players, when u have one album you appreciate it alot more rather than skipping albums for one particular song

I agree to a limited extent with that, but i still think it is far better to have choice.
