Look out for the outtake when Jackie Chan accidentally says "Priceless pieces of Chinese New Year" instead of "Priceless pieces of Chinese culture," the look on his face is brilliant. I love that film. I just can't believe that during the sequences where they speak in Chinese, they forgot to put the subtitles on the dvd so I don't know whats going on! Although I can remember so it's fine, but it's really silly they did that.
Watched the Bourne Supremacy on DVD the other day, it had 3 subtitle options all titled "English". One was regular subtitles and one was just the Russian/French/Notenglish speech subtitled in English. Maybe it's there but it's just not set as a default on Rush Hour
I'm going to
Tear your fuckin' eyes out,
Rip your fuckin' flesh off,
Beat you 'till you're just a fucking lifeless carcass,
Fuck you and your progress,
Watch me fucking regress,
You were made to take the fall,
Now you're nothing!!

Well, I was rudely awoken by the missus this morning but for once with good reason.
My Nile pyramid had finally arrived from the land of sausage and Volkswagens.
Some pics as promised:
The Pyramid (9" high x 8.25" across the base)
It's contents (minus the cd which comes in a digipack)
"Secret" compartment in the upper part of the pyramid which houses the papyrus lyric scroll
One of the pieces of artwork included
Another one (poor pic quality but the actual thing is excellent)
The certificate of authenticity.
This time last week I was at Bloodstock. I like Fridays.

Finally got that bloody Municipal Waste album this morning that I 'won' off ebay ages ago (Hazardous Mutation). What a great album indeed!

oh dude
I tried to like them, believe me! I have one of their albums too (In Their Darkened Shrines) and it just sounds like smelly poo noise.
I like Karl Sanders' solo album, the Saurian Meditation thing, thats coolish.

I'd have to agree - I listened to them a fair bit when I was first getting into death metal, but now I can't listen to more than one or two tracks before getting bored.
The atmosphere could be done so, so much better, with riffs that actually go somewhere and tempos that are varied. Instead, a poo noise pretty much sums it up.
I have nothing against their Egyptian themes either - I don't think it's just a gimmick, and it's probably the best thing about the band.
But to be fair, I hate all "brutal death metal", and while Nile aren't the same as a lot of those pointless blast bands, they're not far off in terms of listenability for me. That's why I sold both my Nile CDs recently.
Awesome box set though.

nah, i think nile are a great band, although i like quite disjointed death metal, in there darkened shrines for me was a great album, i have to say production wise with music ive never been particularly bothered, i grew up listening to tape hiss but yeah, i guess its down to personal preference at the end of the day, for me when it comes to death metal the dirtier the better.
I like both ends of the equation though, decapitateds new album is a brilliant bit of polished off death metal

Nile are only one of a handful or brutal death metal bands I really get on with (Behemoth are creeping up that list rapidly).
The worst thing about Nile (and it's not even their fault) is the fact they keep getting lumbered with venues which have shitty sound when they play over here.
To get the most out of the Nile live experience, you need crystal sound clarity, and the last couple of times I've seen them, The Koko in Camden does most definitely NOT have that.
I saw them in 2002 at The Mean Fiddler and they were awesome because they know how to work a mixing desk there. In fact, I don't think I've ever heard anything less than perfect sound at the Fiddler.

I saw them a couple of years ago at Joseph's Well in Leeds and it was as noisy as shit - I couldn't hear much for a few days after.
I liked In Their Darkened Shrines and Annihilation of the Wicked and, but everything I've heard off the latest album is just boring blast beat nonsense. I hate Death metal bands that never mix it up and just blast beat throughout songs - that's why Aborted are so fucking good, coz they actually write songs instead of just noisy crap.
