Midlanders sit about in fields laughing at stones, and that is an actual fact.
Gee.... I don't know about the rest of you guys, but lately the only things that truly motivate me are erections and bowel movements.

Thank the Police coming straight from the underground...

I suppose in Scotland the sit in large armchairs reading Chaucer, quaffing expensive brandies and selective cheroots as opposed to fighting to the death in piss stained alleyways over deep fried confectioneries?

Is Birmingham in the Midlands? I stayed in Birmingham Sick Kids for ages. It was fucking unpleasant. I actually felt like an ethnic minority when I was there. That and nobody had any teeth because everyone had worked in the Bournville Factory all their lives and were thick enough to accept chocolate as currency.

People confuse Glasgow with Scotland. Glasgow is full of Irish people. The rest of Scotland is full of English people.

He was recounting his time in Glasgow in that episode, hence your confusion. Sadly, I've been to London and can say EastEnders is a horrendously accurate depiction of life there. Some prick asked me if I had a lighter and when I said I didn't smoke he replied, 'Let off! Let off!'. Another time some Palestinian was pissing in King's Cross.
