Re: IT JUST GOT SHITTOUR 'EUROPE' - OCTOBER 09
what a great night at Unicorn yesterday, the perfect was to kick start a tour.
already a nice turnout from the beginning which grew all evening.
Pure Negative:were cool, heavy and atmospheric,a nice mix of slow and fast, cool opening set.plenty of heads banging.
Chewin Druids:always good to catch them in london.although it was their first set with a brand new singer(and it was his first ever gig)they did well considering.i think Gaz the drummer gave some encouraging support to the new singer and helped to see the set through by announcing things/interacting with the crowd between songs, like a sort of back up co-presenter.
im sure with each show the new dude will get into full swing.
my advice for the frontman would be to hold the mic a little more firmly, the waggling of it was making his voice sound near/far,loud/quiet and a little unclear in places.
this is by no means a criticism, its just my view as a crowd member.
River Freshney:it was great to see a pit and dives at a smaller Freshney gig.in the 2years since i met them at wastestock,Freshney have gone from strength to strength.after their craziness and wicked set at the underworld/Evile show,im glad the mayhem continued in a smaller venue, which shows it wasnt a one off.i think the new line up/Wez fronting etc has bought a new feel and "fresh"ness to the band.also it looks like they have gained some new followers/regulars recently which is cool to see.they deserve it.
Nebukadnezza:although they blasted through the set, there was still plenty more moshing and almost a tad too much diving lol.my back and ribs are now fucked from catching people at a low height(i kind of had to give up catching at one point).
still it was funny watching the ambitious dives.plenty of mayhem and a good time.Nebs are truly a noise machine.
i finally got the split cd,the Nebs album,a nothin to catch shirt and a no revolution shirt.also cheers to Wez for the 2badges.
it was like christmas come early for me at the merch stand!
im sure the tour will get madder day by day and i bet there will be some naughty, hilarious, soul demeaning stories posted on here soon enough.

no worries you had fun.it was all good.
maybe 3 dives per person per set would have sufficed(thats just a joke, not a rule)it was like a relay up there between 3 divers on rotation at one point
if the stage was higher or if there were more people to do the catching then it would have been easier all round.
at the end of the day, overall it was still cool to see some dives at the unicorn.

Yeah, there's no way I would have tried jumping off that without being blind pissed. I actually got caught and proper crowdsurfed once, well fucking done to whoever was underneath me cos I fully expected to fall flat on my face. Otherwise, great fucking gig, it swung me over to actually liking Freshney.
