BAIL!

Death turned into the best metal band ever when they released Human. Mantas was shit, a few kids trying to be 'evil' by putting loads of crappy face paint and fake blood on and posing.

have you heard much of the unreleased demo stuff?? Tracks like slaughterhouse, witch of hell, summoned to die and death by metal have true thrash feeling and are classic songs. I guess its just that when musicians get technically better at playing their instruments, it makes them want to show everyone how much they can do, which is fine if the feeling that was present before is carried through with it, but all to often it becomes a little self indulgent.

i have got the early demos. To me 'the feeling' wasn't there before leprosy which was the first time he wrote lyrics about real life. By Human his lyrics had matured to a level where you can relate to what he was saying. Lyrics about real life are far more 'brutal' than cheesey tongue in cheek gore lyrics. I dont think Schuldiner ever lost the desire to play heavy metal, he just wanted to improve as a player and push the boundaries of his ability rather than wallowing in the mediocrity of his teen years.

I guess alot of people arent into prog or melodic metal which is fair enough.
I listen to all eras of Death and it really does depend on what mood im in to what i'll enjoy most. Some days its a SBG day, others its a Symbolic day. Everyday is a Human day

was leprosy not the most brooootal thing ever when it came out?? it sounds like it would have been!

yeah the demos are awesome, but I bet they sounded better before being ripped from 20-year-old cassette tapes!!! also Kam Lee sings on half of them, which is nice, especially the track 'Corpsegirnder'! intense.

I also like the fact that nobody else had ever played death metal so 'death metally' before Mantas/Death!!!

ok, so when you watch a low budget horror movie, you don't want to see tongue-in-cheek cheesy gore?? it's the same with music. they're called DEATH for a reason :P

yeah i was watching some clips from 'redneck zombies' yesterday

Chuck didn't like the name Death during the 90s and it really didnt suit the music. I guess he only kept it because it was so well recognised.
