Has anybody else heared anything about this?
I'm not sure about the full story, but a friend of mine mentioned that the government/big corporations are supposedly planning on taking control of the internet and turning it into some kind of controlled media, where normal people will no longer have a say. Is my friend stupid or could this happen one day?

Well if anybody on your ISP is caught downloading they'll just cut off your internet. Which isnt fair because the internet is used in peoples lives for everything. And if they were to do such a thing, surely a court trial would be needed? No, not in this case, cos Peter Mandelson is a cunt.

It will never work. People will always find a way. The only way to stop it is to legalise downloading right now! This same problem came about when people covered songs and people played songs on the radio. Especially the radio... they didnt stop radio! They just sorted it out so that the artists would get paid. This is what Spotify and Last.fm are helping to do with the free streaming.

A way it could work is by taking money out of your internet bill for the PRS and PPL and all the collection societies. This is what happens with your TV bill... So why not the internet? Its because douche bags like Lily Allen and lobbied this bullshit to the man so much and told him its all so wrong. The music industry is changing, and they need to change with it. If they actually enforce this, people will continue downloading and artists will not get paid for it. They need to do something propperly right now.

Someone posted this up on the car forum I'm on and it came from prisonplanet.com which is run by Alex Jones who is a proper tinfoil hat wearing nutjob - he could give David Icke a run for his money. Jones still thinks 9-11 was an inside job - and so on.

The fact that Alex Jones says I need to worry about this bill means that I can sleep easily in my bed about it.

During the Olympics obviously the interwebs was censored (well western sites were) in China and some German hacker grouple made a program called the Freedom Stick which basically let you surf the internet unhindered
